No thanks, MOX. Al Jazeera is not my cup of tea. The western "mainstream media" has been left wing for so long that most people in the west completely distrusted it. Their journalists either got their news from Pravda or they simply dreamed it up after they bowed to Mecca when they prayed. Along came the brilliant Rupert Murdock who realised that there was a real gap in the market because nobody was presenting the right wing point of view at all.
CNN (Clinton News Network) was once number one but are now number 10 and falling. Fox is now number 1. I don't know where the BBC (Baathist Broadcasting Corporation) is now, but I would say it is as about as credible as Australia's ABC (All Bullsheet Corporation). Hey mox,
"Armchair Critic reckons he could put up a list of links for alternative news." What I actually meant was that I could probably add a list of links to substantiate all the issues you referred to in your earlier comment here. http://forum.onlineopinion.com.au/thread.asp?article=20695&page=0#364488 I could probably add a list of alternative news links too, but lately I've been a bit lazy, and mostly just watch a YouTube channel called 'The Last American Vagabond' http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_ClYrAtDNAGy5J0N-AwBNw It good up to date info on M/E issues, but it doesn't give me a broader view on everything that's going on like some other shows I used to watch. Hey LEGO, "Along came the brilliant Rupert Murdock who realised that there was a real gap in the market because nobody was presenting the right wing point of view at all." The bigger picture is that the globalists control both sides of the narrative and play both sides off against the middle. Posted by Armchair Critic, Sunday, 19 January 2020 7:16:07 PM

As Armchair Critic says, globalists may largely control both left and right wing sides of some narratives. However, among what I am trying to increase awareness of is websites that may be small operations running on shoestring budgets which provide outlets for some investigative journalism and also publish stuff that those controlling mainstream media organisations would prefer kept hidden. These small operations can sometimes "start the ball rolling" and /or help make the mainstream media more honest.
eg Have a look at headlines for articles on www.consortiumnews.com Normally some stuff that is unlikely to appear in mainstream media. Worth noting that the founder and long time editor, the late Robert Parry was the main journalist responsible for uncovering and exposing the Iran Contra affair long ago. Another experienced investigative reporter who has been still at it recently is Seymour Hersh, who exposed the My Lai massacre in Vietnam in 1968. Then more recently a female journalist from the main paper in Sofia, Bulgaria was sent to Aleppo, Syria. Noticed there were weapons Made in Bulgaria captured from terrorists. She started investigating how they got there. As revelations apparently became embarrassing to someone with influence on her employers, she was sacked. Since has done a lot more investigation and uncovered a big arms smuggling racket in the Middle East. Worth having at least a quick look at what comes up with a Google Search for Dilyana Gaytandzhieva and/or check her website www.armswatch.com Among those who would not like what she has exposed would be the likes of those approving of the murder of Qassem Soleimani. eg Including the CIA. So, what are their little conspiracy theories about the USA taking out Usama bin Laden, Al Zaquari, Al Baghdadi, and that Soleimani lowlife?
I suppose all of these guys were just little innocents whom this shadowy coven of "globalists" used as patsies? And they could do that because the "globalists" not only control the left side of news reportage, but the right side as well? It was the "globalists" who were sticking limpet mines on tankers entering and exiting the Gulf. And was the "globalists" who shot down the billion dollar US Global Hawk drone in international waters, and it was the "globalists" that fired those Hobbyking technology cruise missiles from Iraq into the Aramco oil facility in Saudi Arabia? While killing people is generally accepted as being wrong and illegal, there are always exceptions to every rule. Even in Aus, the use of deadly force to protect one's life is not illegal. Similarly, pre emptive action against aggressors or terrorists intent on harming one's citizens is legal.
That Soleimani has set up proxy militias in Iraq that were directly responsible for the deaths of 2 Americans, and was flying into Iraq was certainly a red flag that further action was planned and pre emptive action was certainly warranted. That Binoy is a far left whinger has far more to do with his flawed assessment than UN law. Posted by Shadow Minister, Monday, 20 January 2020 6:27:25 AM

However, for commentaries of what the west, especially the US gets up to, sometimes the most scathing comes from informed people with a lot of background experience there. Probably the best Western alternative news site to start with, which has a lot of links to others is www.globalresearch.ca. Some small websites use servers outside the US which makes it more difficult for the likes if the CIA to hack into and disrupt those they don't like. With communications nowadays, journalists can operate from anywhere and some find it expedient not to live in a country they have long been critical of. Such as the Mexican-American Editor of www.fort-russ.com Worth checking US based www.veteranstoday.com which supports interests of US military veterans and largely takes an anti war stance. More from the US which sometimes run scathing articles critical of it written by people from there with a lot of relevant background knowledge and experience. www.informationclearinghouse.info , www.unz.com and www.mintpressnews.com Also check Australian self described "rogue journalist" from Melbourne www.caitlinjohnstone.com .
