A sad tale of irresponsible journalism and a cowardly church : Comments

By Peter Sellick, published 20/9/2019

This is corrupt journalism and O'Shea should be sacked for deliberately ignoring the truth for his and the paper's own ends.

A point well made. The tale begs the question of whether the victim and the Church are going to avail themselves of Australia's very tough defamation laws. Maybe they are too cowardly to do that also, but what alternative is available to restore Nicholas' reputation?

Irresponsible journalism was in evidence as paedophile priests went about their boy buggering/child-raping with rare impunity and authority. As victims were shamed into silenced or routinely disbelieved by the very folk and Authorities charged with their care and protection. And offending clergy were even sent to safe houses to avoid consequences. As birds of a feather flocked together to protect the criminal child-abusing element in their midst and for whom all the sympathy and empathy was and is directed and from the highest echelons?

Were this not the literal case several changes would have been implemented, first of which would be the setting aside of the confessional seal, not dying in a ditch first, by one could be forgiven for believing, fellow travellers? The second would be the setting aside of conditional celibacy and priests selected from ranks of married men and women!

Finally, there needs to be a renaissance and the reestablishment of pre-Constantine Christian values and worship! And with that Leaders who live among the people and guide their flock with wisdom and facts, not unprovable fantasy and plagiarized embellished documents, altered to fit a narrative rather than factual evidence-based reporting.

So many words on paper have been treated as divinely inspired and without cause! Just because a patently duplicitous writer claimed without any eyewitness corroboration that this was so and just as trustworthy as the denials of patently conflicted paedophile priests?

There needs to be quite massive, branch, root and twig reform in the church and less authoritative priests exercising unawarded power!

It was, after all, this power and authority that allowed all the child abuse to continue for millennia unchecked and unpunished or prevented!

Priests need to emulate their teacher and serve rather than exercise authority nobody ever conferred on them! And go forth to serve, not direct or dictate!

And if terminology like boy seamen, offends some? Don't get too offended least we are obliged to say, methinks thou doth protest too much!

This example is typical of the common response by the liberal Nazi, to a religion which cowardly laid itself down in front of the atheist bus of homosexuals.
There will be no mercy for the gutless wonder, Christianity proved itself to be.

This event would not be tolerated with Islam. It's what I like about it. It actually fights back. All praise!

Maybe the church should just be banned from dealing with kids entirely;
Until kids are old enough to decide what religion they want to believe in for themselves.

Well said armchair, and then only after they've been exposed to a number of religions and questioned the very veracity of their, by faith alone belief systems. And choose in the knowledge that competing beliefs cannot all be right, let alone any particular brand or denomination!?

Let's have this conversation again when those in wheelchairs get up and walk and when incurable cancer are cured just by the laying on of hands, the evidence of the truth?

I personally believe if enough minds can as a unified group, close their eyes, and set aside their personal views for around five minutes and just visualise the same positive outcome as if they were a single mind!

Then anything is possible including the impossible! It doesn't matter if the group are all avowed sinners, male or female. Just as long as they all able to suspend their cynicism for a few minutes, simultaneously every day! There must be more than 12 and they must agree what it is they want to see a manifest reality, it cannot include harm or for an evil outcome! And has to include an expectation of the desired outcome! And actually possible.

It'snot about moving mountains etc. Just in the realm of the possible. Like, say, some politicians growing both a heart and a conscience and actually doing something real to address climate change! And, without tanking the economy! That'd do!

Hey Alan B,

I don't think you realise just how accurate your statement above is;
- But you're 242 years too late...

"Rothschild convinced Weishaupt to accept the Frankist doctrine, and afterward financed the illuminati. He aimed to fulfil the Frankist plot of subverting the worlds religions, and the Zionist objective of instituting a world government which would be ruled by a King from Jerusalem.
In Latin, Lucifer literally means 'Light-bearer'. As the name implied members of the illuminati possessed the 'Light of Lucifer'. They believed that people who possessed it were truly enlightened and capable of governing. Their avowed purpose and goal was the establishment of a 'Novus Ordo Seclorum', a New World Order or One World Government ruled by it's capital in Jerusalem.
Mayer Rothschild summoned 12 affluent men to Frankfurt, and asked them to pool their financial resources. He then presented the 25-point plan that would enable them to gain control of the wealth, natural resources and manpower of the entire world. The plan included instructions on how to preach "liberalism" to usurp political power, initiate class warfare, dismantle and reconstruct all existing institutions and remain invisible until the very moment that the Illuminati had gained such strength that no cunning or force can undermine it"
