The victory of small visions: Scott Morrison retains government : Comments

By Binoy Kampmark, published 21/5/2019

Throughout the Howard years, federal Labor found itself constantly incapable of recovering the 'aspirational' blue collar voters who had found comfort in the arms of the conservative Coalition government.

I feel like the more left wing type partys shouldn't delay the sweet 1 thousand dollars tax refund so that less well off families in western Sydney can afford beanies and warm socks for their kids in what will be another chilly winter no doubt

I both resent and reject any comparison between me and Hitler or Stalin. Oh and on that vision thing? You as always mock! Yours never seems to extend past your front gate or include any other than your immediate family? I get that you reject lower taxes and much-much smaller government!? Or voting on the policies put up any other party.

I voted for Katter this time around, even though I disagree with some of the things he stands for. At least you know he's fair dinkum and gives a rats for his fellow Australians.

Which doesn't shine through in any of your self-centred me-me and mine postings!

As for vision? Vision would allow us to continue to use coal if that's the consensus, until we've used all we have! Suggest you read me on my Sunday and Monday postings.

I also get that you don't give a rats about climate change of the future for mine or your grandkids, given neither of us is likely to be around when the evidence of its reality is inescapable even for ageing moribund recalcitrants of your political disposition?

This nation needs a vision that unites it not more of the divide and rule (Sargent Schulz syndrome) rubbish peddled by advocates like you and your ultra-conservative cabal.

We could WITH THE MOCKED VISION make the deserts bloom and drought-proof the nation plus completely resuscitate our manufacturing sector and indeed compete with China for market share in quality manufactured goods, steel and aluminium production.

( Me, myself and I) Folk like you only ever know all the ratbag reasons it won't work or can't be done and there are too many of you now at the helm in the ships of state!

It was vision that created the engineering marvel of the world, the Snowy Mountains scheme and we haven't seen its like here in this country since.

Little wonder Menzies wept when his mate Ben Chiefly died.

The reality is that unchecked control by the left is inevitably catastrophic. 18c and the notion of moving away from a cheap electricity supply are two issues I hope the Morrison government will address. Whenever Labor is in power I am always worried about deranged ego inspired bonfires burning huge quantities of taxpayer dollars as well as the inevitable persecution of the innocent. On the latter note I look forward to George Pell's appeal.

But Hitler and Stalin were great blokes who commanded* respect, weren't they?

No matter how some Lefties & Righties are trying to vie for one-upmanship in silly posts, the reality of this election was down to well, reality !
Idealist sentiments go out the window when there's uncertainty in the hip pocket looming.
I just pray that Scomo doesn't do an Abbott & delivers on getting local economies rolling !

“The Queensland towns that will remember their decimated house prices on Election Day” (Domain headline).

Nothing about jobs really Alan B. And unlikely also Queenslanders give a toss about coal.

It's also unlikely Australians will find the jobs with Adani. Invariably, those positions will be filled with 457 visas. Cheap foreign labour.

This is probably a more sensible view of things, which fits pretty neatly with your comment on the numbers of disaffected youth, and their disdain of voting.
It's also most unlikely the youth so performing, will benefit from capital gains on investment properties, when Adani opens either.

I discussed the simple method of tearing up a ballot paper, with a group of young blokes on my way out from (not) voting. They were impressed enough to happily head inside to follow suit.
That would make four votes torn up in the ten minutes I was there.

I think you'll find it's more than the young and restless defacing ballot papers.

South Africa was also in a state of riot on Election Day. Locals were rioting outside polling stations in an attempt to halt the process of electing the usual criminal elites (ANC).

I think it's obvious, Democracy is simply a feeding frenzy for the upper echelons. The word is out!
