Global warming won't make it colder! : Comments

By Jay Lehr and Tom Harris, published 15/2/2019

What do heat waves, floods, droughts, rising sea level, forest fires, hurricanes, African wars, mass extinctions, disease outbreaks, and migration from South America and the Middle East have in common?

To al of you virtue signalling, educated caste narcissists, who think that endorsing left wing causes displays to the world that you are extremely intelligent and possess supreme virtue, the time to flee this Human Induced Global Warming BS is now. The whole thing is coming apart and it is being exposed for the fraud it really was.

If you run away from this loser now, then in a few years time, you can say to everybody how you always knew that HIGW was a hoax. So you can continue to pretend that you are rooly, rooly smart. Just hope that your friends don't remember, although you latte sipping mates will probably be doing their best to pretend that they always knew it was a hoax too.

The longer you leave it, the sillier you look. And your self image is the most important issue here, right? Put it down to youthful naivety and learn from your mistake. Your mistake was to take the word of a bunch of stupid socialists who knew how to manipulate your youth and your youthful ideals. They played you like a fish and they made a fool of you. Get angry about that and don't trust socialists ever again.

And while your at it, look again at other left wing causes and figure out that you are being lied to and played like a fish on those issues as well. All the socialist had to do was present their causes as the those that smart and moral people support, and you fell for it, hook, line and sinker.

Don't be one of those who are born every minute.

Cherful.
It is hardly communist! But rather a free market model presided over by a tiny minority of communists, headed by a virtual dictator, with banks and other institutions, still owed by the state. Ditto our free trade partner, ally and tiger economy Singapore.

Moreover, these hated commies are our biggest trading partner and buyer of our coal, gas and iron ore. And basically all that keeps us afloat after the willful dismantling and destruction of our own manufacturing sector.

Currently, creating electrical power with coal means burning annual million of tons of coal, creating millions of annual tons of CO2. Just to turn flywheels/turbines/alternators that eat up to 6-85% of the energy created. Pushing current through transmission lines and distribution facilities, eats away a further 75% of the remaining.

We could use a quarter or less of that coal, extend the life of our reserve by up to 3,000 years, without creating very much CO2!

If we first just cooked the coal, with flameless heat, then sent the methane down a national grid pipeline, to the end user's methane-powered ceramic fuel cells. To create reliable, dispatchable, on-demand power (and copious free hot water) with an energy coefficient of 80%, at the flick of a switch.

[This same gas, compressed will run virtually all internal combustion engines, with around 40% less CO2 and far fewer particulates, AT FAR LESS COST!]

The exhaust product of ceramic fuel cells being mostly pristine water vapour! The lowest costing flameless heat being MSR thorium! Both in construction and operational costs.

Alternatively, we could place a few dozen of these (nuclear waste burners) around the joint to power carbon free mini-grids. Thus lowering the price of power below 2 cents per KwH. Which would more than just resuscitate the manufacturing sector, but create its renaissance!

As for steel, we should use what we need as a carbon source, waste plastic coking coal and use the locally invented, single step, arc furnace reliant, method. To produce the world's lowest costing steel with demonstrably the lowest carbon footprint. Ditto aluminium.

Mmmm...
You lost me with all that ceramic cell stuff, I know nought about it.
I do know they are now able to build coal stations that emit a lot less carbon.

Nuclear power, I do not like at all. I am very sceptical of them saying they can control the waste product from nuclear power. The radiation from it remains active and dangerous for 1,000 years. Sooner or later a natural disaster or war comes along and no one is there to monitor or control the stuff.

I doubt Carbon dioxide would exist at the levels it does except for the gross overpopulation of the earth, where everyone needs to cook, need warmth and light and transport etc. Every single human and all animals except sea creatures, produce carbon dioxide merely by breathing etc.
A lack of coal with the resultant destruction of trees for cooking, means that one of the best sources of purifying carbon dioxide, trees, are wiped out faster.

There is gas, but the Greens seem to object to using that as well.
The earth according to some physicists I have watched, goes through mini periods of
warming and cooling. These periods can be as short as a few decades.

Maybe contraception and a halving of the worlds population is the answer, So forests are not destroyed so massively is the best answer, but tell that to some of the stupid religious leaders in countries around the world.

They are more at fault for humanitys polluting effect on the world, than wealthy countries are. Wealthy countries have huge reafforrestation farms, that are harvested
and replanted at staggered intervals.

Carbon dioxide itself, should result in more heavy greening of the planet and world jungles and forests, because trees thrive on carbon dioxide. But the Forests can’t keep ahead of populations that are in the billions and keep on rising, who are clearing the forests for makeshift dwellings. Africa’s population is set to double in the next couple of decades.

let's curb the population growth, problem solved !
Offer the people of the world the option of sterilisation & reward them. Those who don't won't get child support after two children.

Cheful, ceramic fuel cells were invented right here in Oz and trialled in Victoria some years ago on methane (NG.)

But like most of our best ideas and better people. Obliged to go offshore to get commercial backing. MSR Technolgy operates very differently from conventional nuclear power. And can be very safely deployed to very safely burn other folks nuclear waste.

I get that you don't understand it Cherful, because when it comes to science, you get the dunce's hat!

And because of you and a world full off chattering fellow idiots, we're are still tied to 18h century coal-fired power. And almost unstoppable climate change!

Down to folk (Modern day Luddites) like you, with entirely unfounded concerns, who just stand in the way!

As for folk in third world countries burning wood?

The alternative to that is another local innovation. Namely a two tank bio-digestor. That treats the family's biological waste (sewerage) and turns it into biogas (methane) scrubbed to remove a small CO2 content, can be fed into individual fuel cells to cook the food, light their domicile, pump their water. Run the fridge, washing machine, vacuum cleaner, desktop, TV, Stereo etc-etc. Day or night, whether the sun shines or the wind blows!

And still have around 50% for other uses, sale or charge electric vehicles. Just need our foreign aid retasked to progressively provide just that!

Individual.
As for population reductions? Can just see it now, billions of folk hammering your door down to take advantage of your very generous offer!

Alternatively, females education seems to slow local population growth and of all the trialled remedies, the only one showing any success!

Involuntary sterilisation was tried in Nazi Germany to prevent the intellectually disabled from breeding?

You are not suggesting that sterilisation/castration be forced on folk? Or are you?
