Scruples are best left to others, and most certainly not university managers, who prefer counting the sums rather than pondering deontological principles.

The Kingdom seems to be taking on the clerics and dissembling their power and authority in small short steps? Given they challenge the power of the state itself and would usher in a theocracy far worse than that that now dominates in Iran.
Yes, they re at war and with a proxy war with the aforementioned, who are the ones, who've inspired and funded the Yeminy uprising?
What should the Saudis do? Sit there like chooks on the proverbial chopping block or strike back and kill the thing as quickly as possible?
And damned if they do and damned if they don't!

The reality is that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman cannot get rid of clerical control all at once, so he has to zigzag his way through. All indications are that his final goal is to get rid of clerical control and establish freedom of religion in Saudi Arabia, it will just take the time.
