By Graham Young, published 29/5/2018

While there is a strong expectation that Labor could win the next election, it is a rebuttable presumption.

Right of centre voters need not be downhearted if they realised they could make a fresh start with the Australian Conservatives. The Liberal party is finished per courtesy of Turnbull and the entire cabinet. They have no right to be in government after the next election. The thought of a Shorten Labor government is almost unbearable, but that unhappy event will be entirely the fault of the Liberal party. How could Shorten ever be PM without the Liberal party committing suicide as it did when it shafted Abbott for Turnbull?

I heard Rowen Dean last night pronounce that Shorten is on borrowed time, which means the truly lefty-left Albanese will be stuffing us up in the near future. We might have to start looking for asylum somewhere, because I don't really believe that Australians are ready to accept that only a good, swift jolt from the Right is the only thing that can save us.

I shouldn't have read this piece Graham, looking clearly at the options is just too depressing.

Perhaps the best option would be to stay in bed next election, & just pay the fine. That or hope for a well aimed bus in the near future.

I guess our only hope is with the senate. Unrepresentative swill most may be, but it is the only chance to put a brake on the left. Lets hope the real Labor lite, the greens continue to die, so we have some chance of rationality from government.

Expectations are one thing, actual results are another!

Labour is playing safe and telling their base what they want to hear. And hoping they are less disliked than a demonstrably divided coalition! If we could just get the disgruntled right wing to put a sock in it, get into line behind the leader and stop white-anting from within with unhelpful comment that emphasises the schism in the party!
The party needs to blindside Labor with bold new policies that pull the rug right out from under them. Starting with new regulations that not only allow peaceful purpose Nuclear power! But endorse and welcome it and the likely drop in energy prices and carbon emissions that would automatically follow.
And change the tax reform package to an endorsement of a flat 15% tax for everyone above an adjusted ceiling? Because if Labor wins, they'll need to match bold new vision with something like that of their own.
Every boy and his dog knows we have no choice now but to become a nuclear-powered economy, and cling to coal, just delaying the inevitable, while ramping up costs! We have no choice, given business, as usual, won't cut it!
Nor will more non-core promises!
Or waiting for Cina's power play!
Don't just do something, stand there!

The only downside I see is that it could be over a year to the next election!

UNfortunatley most our pollies are spineless. They know man made gw is c ap and yet have ruined a nation with endless resources and cheap power. They have allowed the feminist/marxist to destroy the family unit and promote perversion. They have dumbed down generations by envy politics and have created an elite class through every level of Government that claims victimhood. They have allowed the abc/sbs to be dominated by marxist feminist and now Islamist. Their hatred of decency and truth is clear to see as they moralise on meetoo's and ride with me. Yes I am pessimistic about our nation however rejoice in the fact that when all turns to trash that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess Jesus Christ as Lord. The vain ideologies of our unis will collapse and the high priests will repent or vanish.

ttbn: Absolutely agree with your sentiments. And the only outcome that would serve and save the once great and undivided Liberal party. As espoused and created by that pillar of libertinism, Mr Menzies.
An at a time when the parties stood for something and a clearly defined side and contest of ideas, not all of which were automatically rejected because they came from one side or the other! If they made sense!
