Few people would disagree that "Australia's political system no longer works". It will not work again until the selection of future politicians remains an incestuous affair for the political class. We are not getting worthy, capable people into politics. Muttering about "neoliberalism" or other 'isms' might sound erudite, but it is the poor quality of people slithering into parliament because of corrupt selection that is the problem.

When you see those two puppets ever fighting and abusing each other childishly, you know that behind the cloth are the two hands of the same puppeteer.

Fancy being grabbed by the right hand and munched with the beast's right canines, or grabbed by the left hand and munched with the beast's left canines - that's our democratic choice!

They also vote increasingly against both major (corruption and or crisis riddled?) parties, which is likely to result in hung parliaments and some strange bedfellow coalitions?

The two preferred parties, preferred by who?

Voting for the lesser evil , well you're still voting for evil.
It's a terrible way to choose a government.

"We want to bring bright, attractive, charismatic, persuasive people into government. Once there, we will watch them like hawks, and if they try to take advantage of being bright, attractive, charismatic and persuasive, we will pillory them in public, and do our best to hound them from office."

Is it any wonder that our best and brightest prefer the private sector?
