The result of the same sex marriage vote was overwhelmingly in favour with a national 'yes' vote of 7.8 million against a 'no' vote of 4.9 million. That is 61.6% against 38.4%. A result that was unprecedented. Breaking that down to electorates, of the 150 electorates the 'yes' vote was carried easily in 133 of them.
