The first person of the Trinity: the Father : Comments
By Peter Sellick, published 16/10/2017While it may seem rationally urgent to posit the existence of a being who set the planets in their orbits, this is not a concept to be found in the Hebrew Scriptures.

Dear George, Dear Peter,
.
I often wonder if prolific writers take the time to re-read everything they write. I have noticed on occasion that they invariably end-up contradicting themselves. Goethe is no exception.
As you rightly point out, George, he wrote those very wise words on one occasion :
« True, human beings may abound
Who growl at things beyond their ken,
Mocking the beautiful and good,
And all they haven't understood »
And the following, equally wise words, on another :
« You really only know when you know little. Doubt grows with knowledge »
Both ring true.
Just as amusingly, he also wrote :
« Wo viel Licht ist, ist starker Schatten.
(There is strong shadow where there is much light) »
And :
« Ein echter deutscher Mann mag keinen Franzen leiden,
Doch ihre Weine trinkt er gern.
(A true German can't stand the French,
Yet gladly he drinks their wines) »
.
I guess we are all full of our contradictions. That’s life …
