Hmmm, well its a bit unfair that men are paying 70% of revenue and only receive 30% of expenditure. If this was more 50/50 it would potentially help their outlook and self esteem.

The article is incoherent nonsense and expressive of the author's prejudices. The author wrote, "Some feminists seem to bridle at the very idea of helping boys improve." The foregoing sentence is an example of the author's prejudice. Please name one feminist who bridles at the very idea of helping boys improve.

Incoherent nonsense, eh? Why don't you get stuck into him properly and tell him what you really think?

Obviously you have never been to a primary school P&C meeting david f.

Anything that DavidF doesn't understand is 'incoherent nonsense' - not his inability to inderstand.
I'm just glad that I am old enough not to give a continental what women or anyone else thinks of me. Posted by ttbn, Wednesday, 16 November 2016 11:08:37 AM

I think if you did a search on Feminist approaches to boys' education you would dig up a lot.
There is an article Westy ( I think?) wrote some years back called "Why Governments Delayed" or some such. The journal is out of print but might be online, you never know your luck mate. And yes boys' education has been the site of some very vicious fights among parents -and of course academics- I mean, what would you expect? They wouldn't agree that the sky is blue : ) Posted by Waverley, Wednesday, 16 November 2016 11:19:25 AM

In the early pioneering days, the men in Alaska were real men, so were the women!

Oh yes, I've seen Sarah Palin.
She will doubtless feature large in Trump's administration. They're telling us now that evangelical Christians supported Trump. Try explaining that one. Posted by Waverley, Wednesday, 16 November 2016 12:14:02 PM

And dont forget Ann Coulter and Michelle Bachmann as examples of "real" women who (it seems) are very much admired by Steve Bannon who produced this chilling film about "real" men.

What's all this stuff about Steve Bannon?
Some of these people with Trump make Sarah Palin seem normal. It's all too much like the nasty characters who came into power in the thirties.......... Posted by Waverley, Wednesday, 16 November 2016 11:35:27 PM

These issues go way beyond gender. This is the long-term effect of globalisation. We despised lefties were excluded from the discourse in the 1980s and 1990s and our prophecies of massive social cost were ignored.
Then the lefties themselves decided to buy in to the whole globalisation charade, in return for a cynical nod to multiculturalism and identity politics. Now, the whole globalisation charade is crumbling. The stupid white men who brought it all about are now being replaced by stupid white men and women (yes, women, that's progress) who pretend outrage that 'people are hurting'. Watch this space. The people who voted for Trump - and who would have voted for Bernie Sanders, had the DNC not shafted him - are taking no prisoners. Posted by Killarney, Thursday, 17 November 2016 1:42:45 AM

Hard to steer a sensible line between hardline feminism and asserting the right of men to say their piece and live a decent self-respecting life, some would say.
Watching people interviewed on TV, watch the man stop and think and the woman jump in and say it all, and tell the guy what he thinks : ) PS People supporting women are feminists. What are people supporting men called? Posted by Waverley, Thursday, 17 November 2016 2:31:39 PM

'They're telling us now that evangelical Christians supported Trump. Try explaining that one.'
Waverly if you are not smart enough to work that one out its likely you will remain clueless. Posted by runner, Thursday, 17 November 2016 4:04:42 PM

you could also take of your blinkers and read this

Right. So born-again Christians support a man who treats women like chattels, boasts of having sex when and where he likes regardless of his marital state, and support a man who will doubtless do everything he can to make himself and his fellow 1 per cent more wealthy than they are already.
Oh, and brings the conversation about women's bodies down to a level never seen before, not even in the State Parliaments of Australia. Never mind hostility to people of colour, savage comments about the laziness of Latinos, scant regard for civil rights unless it's the right of people to shoot other people..... Great! I see Waverly you are so quick to stereo type and refuse to read the truth. Typical of the leftist 'elite'who are so blinded by failed narrative.

Oh, I read it. Now I understand. The US election was all about abortion and basic values. They must have voted for Trump because he's a nice man, kind to women and open to new ideas.

Men are saying they are under-employed.
Maybe Bill Shorten is onto something campaigning about work being handed out far too freely to foreigners on 457 visas: http://www.smh.com.au/victoria/11-million-workers-want-more-hours-20161117-gsrogb.html Posted by Waverley, Friday, 18 November 2016 9:34:10 AM

I wonder by the way whether - when people write about men- they include gay men in what they say?
Just a tiny thought....... I doubt that some our other authors do. Posted by Waverley, Monday, 21 November 2016 3:59:17 PM
