Nothing wrong with this article, apart from the total lack of logic, the evidence-free assertions and the usual Left wing hand-wringing.
Those Bowden sees as "refugees" we can more correctly see as economic invaders. Indeed, Europe provides the best evidence, with two thirds of the "refugees" being young males with no accompanying women or children and it is clear many of them are ISIS infiltrators. European nations have built their economies, cultures and societies over centuries using hard work, intellect and Christian-based ethical and cultural norms. Thanks to Merkel, millions from the Middle East, North Africa and beyond have turned up expecting to be fed, clothed and housed, free of charge to themselves. In other words, they have effectively confiscated large chunks of Europe's historical wealth. In return, there has been a catastrophic increase in terrorism, violence and sexual crimes against women and children. Thanks, Angela. The most obvious point to be made is that these people are culturally incompatible with Western democracies and have nothing to offer but violence, disruption and cultural decay. Merkel has poisoned Europe's well. Bowden has a "vision of what Australia was, what it is now, and what it could become. That vision for the future is that Australia, of all nations, could be the first to show the world that people of many creeds and beliefs can live together in peace." Bowden's evidence to support this statement is non-existent. There has never been and never will be a Western democracy that can take on large numbers of people whose cultural map is Islam. Full stop. Every example contradicts Bowden. Islamic immigration is absolutely not comparable to the waves of European and Asian immigrants who have settled here and in other countries and integrated. The 27,000 Islamic terrorist events around the world since 9/11 are proof enough. Bowden says "other countries are doing so much more than we are." Yes, and they have so much more terrorism, crime and violence as a result. And there are many countries, including some in the Middle East, who are doing far less. It's hard to believe really, that people could hold views like this.
2 points 1).The best way to resolve the refugee issue is to stop the violence their are fleeing from. 2). Australia has enough problems of it's own to fix without importing anymore. Unemployment hitting 20-30% in some areas.Perhaps the problem is those people have the wrong colour skin for the good professor to acknowledge there could be a problem. We cannot, and should not, take anymore. We should not have taken those we have already taken. The whole 'refugee business' is a scam perpetrated by the Left and Islam to bring the West to its knees - and it is working. The West is going down the gurgler fast: unemployment, debt, crime (much of it due to 'refugees'). We would be better off without this old man and his nonsense, too.

I'm Sorry, but have to disagree!
Simply put, we stand at a crossroads, where one path leads to endemic generational poverty, replete with overcrowded cities, soup kitchens etc; and hoards of homeless hobos. And where those with anything left to lose (a eternally shrinking, I'm allright jack, cadre) will shelter in luxurious Gated gulags, designed to keep the great unwashed, masses out? This is the likely future we face by buying the simplistic, feel good psychobabble, in this garbage entreaty? The other road leads to a high tech future where megafactories roll day and night with hardly a human hand involved, and where the population will be paid to consume and engage in leisure activities, military/civil service/planning designing or learning. A place that's jealous of its borders and the virtual utopia it could be for those who've built it? The second option will not require any real influx of immigrants, but will be more than well served by natural growth via native born Australians! And likely to be a slowly decreasing population paradigm? Those refugees (genuine) we still accept, will need to be able to prove their status, ability to fully integrate and real intent, via covertly deployed high tech space age lie detectors! This is the only viable means we actually have to eliminate the possibility of another less harmonious culture forcing its way in then replacing us, ours and taking what other generations have sacrificed all for to create and build! We don't need another Cologne or another Indonesia! Moreover, this high tech future will be one where we just do not need more people and where the world would be best served if they stayed put and resolved the differences that divide them or allow others to persecute the innocent! And given the obvious template is a formerly war torn Cambodia, (now a democracy!?) with the dictatorial Pol Pot, and state sanctioned genocide? It remains the only viable solution for an already seriously overpopulated planet; at least until we begin the next mass migration to the stars? Alan B. A pretty astonishing article. It beggars belief that someone would want to take a leaf out of Angela Merkels book and do the same kind of damage to our country that she has done to hers.
But more importantly, why would we wish to develop a society that does not have shared values, traditions, beliefs or history? Why is it somehow better than a country with a cohesive society where the vast majority are able to agree on our social norms and way of life? There seems to be some kind of self loathing or at least dislike of his own culture, history and values that he wishes to dilute it in such a manner. Of course we should be accepting all who wish to come here.
Regardless of who they are. Let and even encourage them by bribes and handouts to have as many children as they want. no limits at all. The animals and birds whose habitat we are rapidly destroying and sending extinct really count for naught, don`t they? The lack of viable fertile soils and limited fresh water resources also really don`t enter into the sustainability equation at all do they? Yes let the population growth Ponzi scheme roll on. It is all very well to rabbit on about "the rights of the child" and "human rights" but what about the rights of nature?
It as, after all, nature what keeps us alive. Surely nature must have more rights than anything else. Posted by ateday, Friday, 5 August 2016 3:33:51 PM

Of course the author will gladly offer his house to share with a family that has no respect for women, and offer his daughter to the "man" of the family, then give him 80% of his wage, to do nothing.
Reduce immigration now, how can we offer 600000 middle east people a home, we don't have the water resources, food, social security, housing, police, medical, schools or other infrastructure to cope. If the author wants to lower his standard of living, that's great. But I do not want my family exposed to a lower standard of living and higher crime because "other countries are doing more" The irony of the left saying we should do more as long as it does not effect their tax payer funded salary Posted by kirby483, Friday, 5 August 2016 3:41:01 PM

No, nature tries to kill us. We have to keep ourselves alive. Think of it. Every living organism gets eaten by some other living organism, eventually. Don't tell that to the Greenies they'll have a heart attack. Refugees are OK, as long as they are predominately Christian or Buddhist & maybe a few Hindus, but definitely no moslems of any Race. I like to die of old age, not having my head lopped off or being blown up by some enraged moderate. Posted by Jayb, Friday, 5 August 2016 3:47:42 PM

Banjo, how did you manage that ? I've tried to get [deleted for abuse] but nobody reads my posts anyway.
Either Mr Bowden is still living in his mum's garage, or he has a very large house of his own. How many refugees is he willing to take ? A recent article in The Australian showed that the number of refugees in electorates where Greens' senators lived (and Bandt) was distressingly low: there were far more refugees in, say, Mt Druitt, than in Carlton. The greens must be distraught. So perhaps any new refugees could be especially channelled into their electorates ? I'm not enthusiastic about pleasing the Greens but I'm sure they would be overjoyed. Perhaps Dr di Natale could replace his au pair with an ex-slave ? He wouldn't have to pay any extra. Joe Posted by Loudmouth, Friday, 5 August 2016 4:05:59 PM

With the ease of modern travel, one of the effects of war seems to be mass numbers of refugees fleeing into other countries.
In the past, if a politician or despot started a war, then the people could not travel fast enough to escape, and they were often slaughtered or enslaved. Mohammad knew a lot about that. But now, the population of a country is able to travel faster and escape to become refugees in another country. And what Australia can be doing is only forming trade agreements or alliances with countries that are signatories to the International Criminal Court. The International Criminal Court puts some restraint on politicians and despots, and they are less likely to start a war and cause mass numbers of refugees. The most warmongering country in the world is the US, which has been at war almost continuously throughout its existence (or at war for 214 years out of 236 years). The US has caused most of the world's refugees in recent years, and is likely to cause many more if Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump becomes US president. If a refugee comes from a country where america has illegally attacked, then the refugee is sent to america, and the american public pays for the cost of that refugee. Or, a country can take in a refugee, but that country also sends america the bill. The american public love their wars as much as their politicians, and the american public must now pay for the cost of the refugees that are created by their wars. How do you work that out. If my memory serves me correctly, & it does, America went into Iraq at the insistence of the Free World because Saddam was killing his Citizens & they were flooding out of the Country in Droves. The same thing in Afghanistan. The Taliban were slaughtering everybody, Men, Women & Children. There was wholesale Genocide. Just like ISIS is doing now in Syria & Iraq. Refugees were flooding the World. The Afgan Government begged for help from the Free World. So what happens. We get people like you twisting history to suit your own self serving anti Free World Socialist ideals. Jayb & Banjo,
That's nothing, I've been kicked off Green Left Review and (I think, though maybe I just lost interest) New Matilda. Yes, the pseudo-Left is a broad church, one can get expelled from many of them. It's a badge of honour. How does one discriminate between refugees ? I would have thought that the most oppressed, the most at risk, the most persecuted, should have first dibs. So Rohingya from Burma, Kurds from Iran and Turkey, Yazidis from Iraq, Christians from most Middle Eastern countries including Egypt, Eritrea and Sudan, and Muslims from Ethiopia, would qualify. Or one could be 'even-handed' and take people who don't face any threat of death or imprisonment, as well as those who do. It's hardly rocket science. Double the intake by all means, but make very sure they are genuine. Joe Posted by Loudmouth, Friday, 5 August 2016 6:43:15 PM

This is the sort of subversive thinking which undermines any sensible approach to immigration. He does not even acknowledge the necessity to cease admission of muslims, or contribute any basis to avoid the disaster suffered by countries which have subjected themselves to the stupid policy he suggests.
At least he boosts support for Pauline Hanson, who will attract people seeking an antidote to this nonsense. Is Peter Bowden an Australian? Posted by Leo Lane, Friday, 5 August 2016 6:44:51 PM

One good piece of news is that the warmonger Obama is being sued for his war crimes. And ironically, he is being sued by a member of his own army. http://www.pri.org/stories/2016-05-11/army-officer-sues-obama-over-legality-war-isis Al-Qaeda was supposed to have carried out the 9/11 attacks, (according to the warmonger US), and not the Taliban. But I believe the warmonger US does not have a clue, and just likes to be at war. And the warmonger US has been using Al-Qaeda as an excuse to launch wars in Afghanistan, and then Iraq, and even launch a war in Syria. The warmonger US may eventually use Al-Qaeda to carry out a war on Iran or Russia or China. The warmonger US did not get UN authorization to lunch its wars. And the warmonger US has caused far more deaths and refugees than Al-Qaeda, Saddam Hussein and Bashar al-Assad combined. Posted by interactive, Friday, 5 August 2016 7:42:33 PM

Hi Interactive,

Something like US troops blowing up market-places or mosques or airports or schools or machine-gunning theatres or driving trucks through crowds. That might help. Interactive,
America didnt say Al Queda, attacked the twin towers, Osama Bin Laden went on Al Jazeera television and proclaimed World Wide that Al Queda did it. Are you calling Osama Bin Laden a liar? While they were broadcasting about their wonderful feat, they grabbed a few hostages and publicy beheaded them in videos they sent to Al Jazzera. It was too gruesome to show the horrific beheadings at the end of those videos. Reporters who heard the screams from those videos as they beheaded the hostages were haunted by those screams. Now to a more factual account of the war in Iraq. It began when Iraq invaded Kuwait. For three months they raped and looted Kuwait. There was a constant stream of old trucks heading back and forward across the desert as the fine upstanding citizens of Iraq came over and looted everything they could find. The trucks were loaded with furniture, Tvs, any thing valuable they could take from the citizens of Kuwait. There are photos of those trucks, they will be in an archive somewhere. The world was calling for someone to go in and liberate Kuwait. Finally after 3months of debate with Arab countries in the United Nations, America went in and chased the Iraqi Army back to Iraq. They were keen at that point to go in and finish Suddam Hussein off, but the Arab nations in the United nations, agreed to America liberating Iraq but they werent actually that keen on America waging war in Iraq. So economic sanctions, and weapons inspection agreements were part of the treaty agreed to between, America, the United Nations and Suddam Hussein. That all happened a few years before the twin towers attack. Afghanistan... The Taliban dont belong in Afghanistan, they came from Pakistan. They imposed the most brutal form of Islam on the people. When America was there, they set up schools for the girls, but the taliban, bombed them, and threw acid into faces of young schoolgirls. Posted by CHERFUL, Friday, 5 August 2016 11:30:39 PM

to Interactive........continued from above, Im not saying America doesnt have its share of bloodletting in historical wars. But I disagree with you putting the whole blame for the middle east sorry mess on America. Since the time of the Ottomon Empire, and the bloodletting of the Arab muslims at that time, the Arabs have been up to heir necks in all the plotting and wars. Starting with World War 2, when they plotted with Hitler right up until the six day war, when 4Arab states raced over and attacked Israel, but Israel beat them in 6days. Then they were progressively blowing up American embassys in overseas countries until. finally the attack on the Twin Towers. It was the Syrian Arabs who stormed into Damascus. Interestingly, back in 1850 Damascus, and Eleppo, were the areas where massacres of the Christians took place. Wonder if that has anything to do with the tribal war between the Arabas and Assaud being played out. Posted by CHERFUL, Friday, 5 August 2016 11:58:45 PM

The US bombed and killed over 100kids in the last week.
You've made an argument that we could, but you haven't made one that we should. Why should I have to give up liberties and freedoms and pay from my wallet to help refugees who are made that way by US wars of aggression? People who will come here and demand that we change our country to become the one they ran away from. Why would I want that and what sort of retarted mindset allows you to proclaim that increased immigration (and as a result increased tension between cultures and increase of terrorism) is good? Make the countries that create the problems deal with it. Don't place your guilt trips on people who aren't responsible for the mess and aren't obliged to fix it. I tend to think the warmonger US is going cold on its "war on terrorism". Mainly because the warmonger US is losing its "war on terrorism", like it lost its "war on drugs", and "war on poverty", and war on ....whatever the warmonger US decides to have a war with. The warmonger US seldom does anything successful, but the warmonger US thought it was successful with its war on communism. So now the warmonger US is going back to picking fights with Russia and China. Although Russia is not really communist, and Russia is a lot better at human rights than a number of allies of the warmonger US. So we see the dogs of war barking and snarling and drooling at the door of Russia. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/checkpoint/wp/2016/06/14/nato-to-send-combat-ready-battalions-near-russian-border/ If the warmonger US is successful in starting a war with Russia, then 100s of millions of refugees will be trying to get out of Europe. Of course the warmonger US must take all these refugees, and not some other country that is not a warmonger. Posted by interactive, Saturday, 6 August 2016 10:50:44 AM

Yes, the warmonger US can not help itself, and must be at war. But shuffling refugees from one country to the next does not solve anything. If the warmonger US is successful at starting a war with Russia, there will be millions of refugees trying to escape Europe. Some of these refugees from Europe were refugees that came to Europe from countries such as Afghanistan. So these refugees went from Afghanistan to Europe (after the warmonger US started a war in Afghanistan), and then the same refugee goes from Europe to a place such as Australia (after the warmonger US starts a war with Russia). A way to stop the rot is that the country who starts the war must take the refugees, or the country that starts the war pays for the cost of the refugees. The warmonger US will owe various countries many $ trillions, but the warmonger US will not stop starting wars until the american public starts hurting in their hip pocket. Peter, I would like you to take your hat off, and replace it with the average Joe on the streets. One who has a job, but its not real secure, or, has a job, but is under employed, but just cant manage to find a second job that suits the hours of the first. One that either has a mortgage or is renting and trying to save for a home, but struggles with paying the bills and feeding their three kids. So once you do this, you will see things from a whole different prospective because if you fit this bill, chances are you are not earning enough to get ahead, but too much to receive much support.
Now tell me we can invite 200,000 per year, with little or nothing to offer, and very limited job opportunities to speak of. If you are fortunate enough to draw a five figure income, you don't see things from the average Joe's prospective, because our education system is broken, our health system is way underfunded and under resourced and our seniors are doing it extremely tough in general terms. To simply add additional passengers, when we cant care for our own is simply ridiculous. By all means offer support, but only once we fix the shortcoming we currently have. I hope this article is an early April fools day joke not the thoughts of anyone in power.
Take families, end up with the Sudanese refugees who are creating terror in Victoria and other states to the point. Quote "Apex Gang crime results in Refugee parents banishing kids back to war-torn countries" https://au.news.yahoo.com/vic/a/32102181/apex-gang-crime-results-in-refugee-parents-banishing-kids-back-to-war-torn-counries/#page1 Refugee parents of out-of-control youths are sending their troublemaking kids back to war-torn countries to “straighten them out”, fearing their children will spiral deeper into a life of crime if they stay here. The gang is known for its public disturbance, stealing luxury cars and carrying out violent armed robberies and home invasions, acting out scenes reminiscent of violent video games like Grand Theft Auto, police said. Apex gang members are predominately of African or Sudanese ethnicities, and mostly in their early 20s, but children as young as 13 have recently been arrested in connection with violent home invasions and carjackings. On Tuesday, police arrested 13 teenagers after a gang of thieves pounced on a St Albans family, in Melbourne's west, while they were in their BMW. A 12-year-old victim was dragged out of her family’s car and told she would be killed, and the family home was robbed. The youngest of the gang was just 13 years old. The arrests come after a 17-year-old Taylors Hill boy and a 14-year-old boy from South Yarra were arrested on Sunday, accused of smashing their way into Caroline Springs home and stealing two cars on Saturday. They have also been questioned over an aggravated burglary at a Taylors Lakes home Sunday morning, where vehicles were also stolen. Earlier this month, six African teenagers were arrested after an allegedly stolen BMW with nine people on board crashed into a pole in Melbourne. Just because someone is part of a family does not mean they are going to integrate in Australia. Posted by Philip S, Saturday, 6 August 2016 5:57:41 PM

It is a pity that it is so late in the game, but I think that you would make a good Political Adviser to the Hillary Clinton traveling circus, you seem to be mentally closely aligned with her arrogance and apathy. From your ranting and ravings, you must have picked what you thought were a lot of big words from the Dictionary, in an effort to make you appear much brighter than you really are. You can feel good though, with the misguided loyalty that you show for the "good ole boys", no doubt you will be amply rewarded when Australia finally becomes just another State of the U.S.A. that sight you linked me to is the propaganda fake story. There was no blood because the full videos were cut before the actual beheadings were shown to the public. But there are reporters and television executives that have seen them. The fact that that link you gave me says there was no blood tells me the link is a lie, because I watched those beheadiings on the news at the time and it was impossible to see any blood or bodies on the ground because the video was cut as the blackhooded ratbag went in for the kill. The sound was blocked also. If that link claims to have seen the bodies on the ground in those original beheadings it is false. They might have seen bodies on the ground in something else but not those. How come these men have never returned to their families if they are still alive. The Koran commands that the throats of the Infidel be cut. In the video we have rabid followers of Islamic State. They beheaded them alright. From what I see, the Arabs do a damm good job of bombing their own countries. Nobody but the Arabs have hand their hands on the bombs and guns that have killed so many in the deadly civil war they are raging. The Sunni and Shities could have lived together peacefully without killing each other. America didnt have hands on the weapons used to wage that war of Arab tribal hatred. Which is still being waged over there. America didnt storm Damascus in their thousands, the Sunni Arabs did. Provoking war with the Allawarte tribe supporting Assaud. Where the Americans showed their lack of intelligence is they didnt even know there was an Allawarte tribe supporting Assaud. So they found they couldnt depose their evil dictator without going to war with the Allawarte tribe. Looks like they learned nothing from Iraq. Putin however, understood what the American brass didnt, he knew he had to come in because the Americans were ballsing it up bigtime. Its only since Russia came into the war that America turned the war around on Isis. America would be making a mistake to not make Putin an Allie at this point, He is the biggest advantage they could have on any all out war with radical muslims. I have thought Russia should be our Allie for decades though, especially since the country has modernised and Putin is a a very astute leader. It doesnt have to be a suck up alliance, but it could be a very practical one. With European countries under threat. Russia is after all A European country. "Sothern" Caliphates aside, I have no desire to wish anything like that for us, but I do have a very strong belief that we should be a strictly NEUTRAL country, sitting on the fence, and NOT getting drawn/or involved in other country`s problems....We are NOT the Sheriff`s Deputy, nor have we any God given right to be! I foresee us as a nation similar to Switzerland, neutral in all perceivable situations, with a similar Electoral and National Defence system. We keep being told by our people that a Citizen Initiated Referendum system of Politics will not work here, but they simply do not want to give it a go, as they are all getting it too easy, with too much personal financial gain and perks that makes any alternative absolutely "off the table. We here are in quite a spot of bother as our National Deficit continues to increase, without anyone having any idea how to really put a positive stop to it without hitting the rich and the privileged. I am astounded at the continuation of the financial hand-outs from Australia to the many so-called Third World countries, amounting to Trillions of Dollars, and in a lot of cases simply and in reality boosting the private bank accounts of that country`s Leaders or Politicians? If our National Bank Account is now under threat, we should be reducing Foreign Aid payments and either cutting back on migration or alternatively cutting it out altogether until things pick up again. As far as the current problem with Asylum Seekers/Boat People, all I can say is that as long as the U.S. is continually pushing it`s main industry, which is the war machine/arms/munitions, we will continue to be subjected to an ever-increasing tide of displaced humanity! You suggest that " .... I think you forgot to mention At the request of the puppet governments of those countries they installed and fund."
That's your best shot ? That the US is some all-powerful puppet-master ? I think Cherful was right that the US is more of a bumbler, less of an Evil Genius. I'm intrigued, and appalled, at how sections of the Left suck up to Islamo-fascists. Do you think your head will be the last to fall ? I don't agree that Putin is much better, he has his own agenda, but politics in the real world is rarely either-or, just two sides to every issue, as the kiddies on the pseudo-left assume (wouldn't that be so easy ?). Any political dealings with countries and regions with very strong and reactionary (ask your parents) religious ideologies, as well as strong and fascist-oriented nationalist ideologies, force us to hold our noses and do dirty deals with tyrants like Assad and Putin, in order to defeat the Islamo-fascists of ISIS and the Taliban. A disgusting choice, but otherwise entire countries like Syria will obviously be ground to dust. Frankly, I think the US is almost powerless in the case of Syria: it hasn't even got a puppet-government to prop up. And it has to cosy up to Turkey, to get even just a little done. A truly ghastly situation. And then there will be Trumpf. God help us - except there is no god. Only us. Joe Posted by Loudmouth, Sunday, 7 August 2016 8:56:07 AM

Crackcup: Sothern" Caliphates aside, I have no desire to wish anything like that for us.
Thank God for that, but that's what will happen if we keep letting in moslems. Australia will end up like Europe. The way our Government appeases moslems that's what will eventually happen. Crackcup: I foresee us as a nation similar to Switzerland, neutral in all perceivable situations, with a similar Electoral and National Defence system. Before the West "interfered" with these Nations their Governments were persecuting their Citizens, so much that there were Refugees in droves, even coming to Australia. A point that seems to get forgotten. If we want to be Neutral then we should refuse Refugees as well. Crackcup: We keep being told by our people that a Citizen Initiated Referendum system of Politics will not work here, but they simply do not want to give it a go, Something I have advocated for many years. Abortion, Refugees, moslems, Adoption, Same Sex Marriage & a myriad of other issues. A missed opportunity when having a Census. Those Questions could be put on the Form. Crackcup: I am astounded at the continuation of the financial hand-outs from Australia to the many so-called Third World countries, amounting to Trillions of Dollars. One of my pet hates. You are correct as to where the money goes. Been there, done that. The only Aid that should bee handed out is for Disasters, then only in Material help. No Money involved. If they want "Landing Fees, ect. ;-)" then we don't land the Aid. Crackcup: the U.S. is continually pushing it`s main industry, which is the war machine/arms/munitions, we will continue to be subjected to an ever-increasing tide of displaced humanity! A point that seems to get forgotten. These Countries have been at war with themselves for 4000 years. The West, being misguided, thought it could help. Interests aside. Hi Jayb,
Yes, I don't think Crackup realises that isolationism in foreign policy, abandoning any interest in whatever happens in other countries, goes hand in hand with a policy of 'no refugees' from those countries. If we shouldn't get involved in helping to resolve issues in other countries, then we also have no obligation to be involved with any of the consequences of that inaction. And there are still twenty million Syrian potential refugees to go. But where is the universalism that the Left proudly espoused decades ago, that all men and women were brothers and sisters, that every person on earth should have the same rights and opportunities as anyone else ? Now we are supposed to surrender to 'culture', that different groups had different notions of rights and opportunities, and we should 'respect' those differences. We abandon our fellow human beings. What an utterly gutless approach. It harks back to the early 19th century anti-Enlightenment reactionaries like le Maistre, the forerunner of fascism and racism. No, there is no Left any more. It sh!t itself long ago. Joe Posted by Loudmouth, Sunday, 7 August 2016 9:57:00 AM

Hey Cherful,
My comment was a little ignorant in that I just read 'beheadings' in your comment and wanted an excuse to mention Rita Katz who, it is said, has faked numerous ISIS beheadings videos for use as propoganda. Whilst I don't know for sure if it is true, it is talked about often on several of the alternative media programs I listen to, and in a way that at the very least leaves me open minded about it. I havent actually looked hard into their arguments, or at which videos they say are faked. http://www.veteranstoday.com/2015/07/11/staged-isis-beheading-video-hacked-from-mccain-staffer/ http://www.globalresearch.ca/who-is-behind-the-islamic-state-is-beheadings-probing-the-site-intelligence-group/5402082 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rita_Katz But in saying that, I'm not suggesting that all videos of atrocities by ISIS are faked, just that some potentially are in order to sell the people an agenda. interactive, "But shuffling refugees from one country to the next does not solve anything." Not in the eyes of the common person, but that doesn't mean there arent benefits if you're a globalist. What if the aim was to destroy national soverignty, nationalism and the very identity we have in our own countries? Have you heard the term 'New World Order'? You can't build a 'new' without tearing down the 'old'. In this case shuffling refugees from one country to another does serve a purpose, and people like George Soros wouldn't do it if it didn't. It's just that it doesn't make sense to the average person. The US is an fascist economic dictatorship that rules by lies, frauds and deception. Don't believe me? Start with electoral rigging. http://youtu.be/rVTXbARGXso?t=1h8m30s Posted by Armchair Critic, Sunday, 7 August 2016 11:51:03 AM

Armchair Critic,
No... I don't go along with theories that the warmonger US has a plan of world domination. My theory is that the warmonger US just likes to drop bombs, because the warmonger US thinks it is good at dropping bombs. But it isn't. The warmonger Obama bombed 7 countries in 6 years. And the warmonger US has "dropped an estimated 23,144 bombs in the Muslim-majority countries of Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015." http://thefreethoughtproject.com/2015-dropped-23144-bombs-muslim-countries-1-bomb-terrorist/ In less than one year, the warmonger US dropped more bombs than there are ISIS terrorists, (according to numbers of ISIS terrorists by the warmonger CIA). So the warmonger US is not good at dropping bombs, and all the warmonger US has done is spread terrorism into other countries, and dramatically increased the number of refugees. I never make the mistake of believing americans know what they are doing. Posted by interactive, Sunday, 7 August 2016 7:23:59 PM

Interactive , General Wesley Clarke the ex supreme commander of NATO agrees with you.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RC1Mepk_Sw Within a month of 911 they told him the USA would invade 7 countries in 5 years. It had nothing to do with terrorism on US soil.

There must be something in the air in the universities.
Most of the way ideas come from academics. Is it just because they think their job is to come up with something new ? Germany has rapidly changed its mind about the intake of refugees or whatever they were. Most were in Turkey so they were safe. To even suggest something as irresponsible as this proposal is just mad. In any case we will not be able to accept them as our economy only has until about 2025 before the crash. Any intake of large numbers in the next few years must expect to live in the desert and scratch out a living without government assistance as government will be almost inoparable by that time. It is highly unlikely that government welfare will have ceased as the energy crunch from falling net energy takes hold. http://cassandralegacy.blogspot.it/2016/07/some-reflections-on-twilight-of-oil-age.html That is a distinct possibility. Want to take a gamble on that ? Seneca will have the last laugh. Posted by Bazz, Monday, 8 August 2016 11:48:10 AM

I agree with majority of posters and are heartened to see how many do now see the damage done to our fair land by allowing the UN to pick who comes and whom we accept as refugees. Far too many are Muslim and they are not going to settle down and become true blue. Not able to under Sharia Law which dictates how a Muslim must live in all respects and has to be obeyed and isnt compatible with our Laws and Constitution as Islam does not want democracy not allowed under Sharia. Also a Muslim has to live under Sharia totally following it and not allowed to obey any other laws other than Sharia. Meaning that when they take up the offered citizenship in order to facilitate family reunion in every case it is in actual fact fraudulent. Cant be anything other, but this is allowed under Sharia. Called Taqiyya - it is a way of making the infidels think a Muslim is agreeable to all of their customs and laws in order to advance the cause of Allah, which is to turn every country in the world into part of one Caliphate.
So we cant accept more Muslims. But how to stop it when we have the Left and their Hate Laws. They call any debate racist when of course Islam is represented by most of all races on earth. And we get the ABC Drum etc Insiders mainly left wing media, as very few aren't, declaring how we owe them all a living as we are a wealthy country. We also cant afford any refugees when living off borrowed monies to even run the country. Only adds to interest bill already 1 billion a month and rising. No sorry no mor immigration until we are out of the mess Labor made, and last government in not repealing 18C or even total hate laws so we can debate without rancor and abuse Posted by MarsBarKid, Tuesday, 9 August 2016 12:14:28 PM

Good luck, JayB, we'll be barracking for you :)
Hi Philip, If men from a particular culture are taught from birth that women are inferior AND that uncovered women (as they see them) are clearly asking for it, and try to have their way with them, then clearly there is a huge problem - from a human rights point of view generally, and a feminist point of view especially - with their presence in a country in which women have formal equal rights and don't - or shouldn't - have to go anywhere without male protection and heavily covered. How to screen those men out of any refugee or migrant intake may present some problems. But any breach of the law which recognises women as equals to men, laws which outlaw oppressive cultural practices, should be met by immediate deportation. I'm confident that most women would agree with me, except those who have to check their 'Victim Meter' first. Cheers, Joe Posted by Loudmouth, Wednesday, 10 August 2016 10:36:17 AM

Unbelievable!! Sixty one comments on a paper that says Australia could take many more refugees than it does. Not one is supportive. Comments such as 'subversive thinking', 'total lack of logic', 'nonsense', 'just mad' fill their posts.
A reader gets the impression that the comments are written by middle aged white men, Abbott voters, lacking the courage to put their actual names on their statements. To Diver Dan, Cato, Cobber the Hound , Hasbeen , Banjo and all the others, I say 'Shame' Think again!" , Australia is a better place, a more helpful place, and a more compassionate country than you make it sound. It is also more courageous than you portray. We did sign these international conventions. Are we then also a country that is more than willing to throw out the window the international conventions that it committed to ? It seems like Hasbeen, Banjo , etc are ready to do so. PeterBo,
Times change and with them that which was appropriate becomes inappropriate. That is why laws are not set in concrete and are amended or repealed. Are you really suggesting that we should follow France and keep letting more moslems enter the country until we have the same percentage as France ? Even the government there is preparing for civil war. Posted by Bazz, Thursday, 11 August 2016 10:52:44 PM

Hi Peter,
You slander some of us: I'm quite happy with increasing the refugee intake by 50%, provided that any policy favours the most persecuted, and those who are prepared to abide by the laws and conventions of Australia. This should not include men who believe, and are likely to act on their beliefs, that women are inferior and should be kept inside or take their chances. Did those outrages in Koln happen as reported last New Year's Eve, hundreds of women assaulted ? If so, then any refugee policy should be extremely stringent and discriminatory against likely perpetrators of similar sexual violence. You and I and all of us know who that might involve. PeterBo:
You sound like a typical bleeding heart apologist, pushing the barrow for the U.N./E.C. globalist agents. The U.N. Conventions that were signed were put in place by Politicians, some with their own particular vested interests in mind. What decision a Politician makes is NOT necessarily in the long-term interests of the country in general, but rather to enhance the Party Policies, or confer certain personal internal reward, considered advantageous at the particular time of signing. Unfortunately we have seen many Politicians pass through "Millionaire`s Row", who have never considered what is the best for the future of the country, but what is best for him/her to claw their way further up the power ladder! Every piece of Legislation that may have a long-term effect upon the Financial/Political future of the country in general, should be put to the people in the form of Referendum, allowing True Democracy to be enacted and genuinely truly indicative of the will of the people! At this time in history, if certain Politicians and Asylum Seeker Advocates had their own way, we the White Caucasians (and the Aborigines), would be all deported to global parts unknown, to satisfy the hidden agenda of these very dangerous clowns! Peter,
I'm sure that immigration officials do their job competently, but could I suggest that a few more questions are put on the form for all prospective migrants and refugees: * Do you believe that men and women have equal rights before the law ? * Do you believe that the law should be applied equally to all, regardless of gender, class and position ? * Do you believe that everybody has the right to believe, not to believe, or to change their beliefs as they see fit ? * Do you believe that apostates should be punished and, if so, how ? * Do you believe that homosexuals should be punished and, if so, how ? If an applicant answers "No" to Questions 1-3, or "Yes" to Questions 4 and 5, no problems, their application should be shuffled to the bottom of the pile, and they can be politely requested to piss off. Just trying to help :) Joe Posted by Loudmouth, Friday, 12 August 2016 10:10:17 AM

Yes,America has a military history. But so do most other nations. Its just that America having the best weapons and the fact that they allow the media access to their conflicts makes their military excursions more public. Vietnam:- Northern Vietnam actual started the war against South Vietnam. Immediately after the Americans failed and pulled out, the genocide by the invading conquerors began. Culminating in the killing fields some years later. Australia was bringing in 70,000 and 80,000 south vietnamese refugees fleeing for fear of their lives when America lost the fight and the people of South Vietnam had to flee for their lives. Blame the North Vietnamese for starting that war, not America. But I do agree the West should have let the 2sides fight it out themselves. The death toll of our young soldiers was too high a price to pay in a foreign war. Over 50,000 Americans and nearly 500Australians dead. And a lot of those were conscripted. Forced to go by the government. Posted by CHERFUL, Friday, 12 August 2016 9:02:26 PM

Beauty mate!
Apart from that, the most effective way to reduce refugees globally is to make politicians actually accountable for their actions. One novel way is creating a gauge by which to judge their successes and failures in real terms, based on the numbers of refugees, then applying penalties for failure. One penalty that springs immediately to mind, is emergration to a refugee camp in Jordan for a life term!
