The Drum beaten by ABC management : Comments

By Malcolm King, published 7/7/2016

The Drum rigorously excluded voices from the centre and the centre right; from people who had a beef about immigration but who could express their arguments cogently.

Malcolm I agree, as a center left type I saw the rot start in a number of ABC programs.
I think is might have something to do with the fact that the ABC is mostly a Sydney centric organisation now. So it' increasing becoming an echo chamber for the Harbor view latte set. Any trip out of the inner Sydney HQ is consider a foreign posting.

While the ABC is still a good news service compared to the commercials it is by no means a great one. Anything produced outside of the new department is very ordinary.

ABC is now well and truly infected with the cancer that is killing journalism in this country, the rise of the opinionated mock-u-mentary presenter is here.

I agree with most of you.

My suggestions about articles to The Drum were refused or ignored.
I also am tired of journalists and editors pontificating and making judgements about what ideas are acceptable. Pauline Hanson has survived by pushing on,however much people don't like what she says. One of many unacceptable to the current conventional wisdom

Howard and Abbotts biggest failure was not to privatise the abc. Billions of tax payer money has been wasted on promoting marxist dogma.

Never submitted to Drum; I knew I would never be considered and happy enough with OLO who was first online site to publish my efforts.

I still think OLO format is the best.

Waverley. Agree with what you have said. However, " Pauline Hanson has survived by pushing on,however much people don't like what she says.". it would appear that an awfull lot of people actually DO agree with what she says.

A timely article Malcolm

I grow tired of young, cute chicks in Hijabs, with perfect English, who are mistakenly accepted as representatives of Islam on:

- ABC's The Drum

- ABC's Q&A, and

- SBS's Insight.

The real mover's and shakers in the Islamic Community in Australia are overwelming note cute chicks in Hijabs but:

surly old religious men with heavy accents* and intolerant views (like "put those who commit homosexual acts to Death")

* not wanting to dirty themselves with the infidels' language.

Excellent news. The Drum was a tax payer funded leftist stronghold. I stopped reading and commenting on it years ago due to being censored numerous times.
