When women play the same game as men, not a cut down "20/20" version, come back. Till then stop whining about poor, rich women.

Bare with me please.
The other day I read an wonderful article about Racism in Australia, I compared those people who accused Australia as being a highly racist country, with the body dysmorphic disorder. >BDD is a body-image disorder characterized by persistent and intrusive >preoccupations with an imagined or slight defect in one's appearance. Thus people with the Racism dsymorphic disorder, take the rantings of a drunken person as the truth about racism in Australia. Thus a person writing about sexism, can have a Sexism Dysmorphic disorder, where they take small example or imagined episodes of sexism and amplify them as proof os sexism. Thus like a person with is preoccupied with slight imperfections, real or imagined of their body, a person with SDD (sexism dysmorphic disorder) will see examples of sexism in every nook and cranny of life. Problem is that only about 3% of females play tennis each year, so not a large market to sell endorsements. But clearly, people who can demonstrate that they've played any high energy sport each week deserve a yearly tax rebate because of the huge health savings and good tidings they bring to the community. This would help players like Serena earn more closely to men players as well too.

Seems no problem when woman are required to wear skimpy tutu-skirts in netball (for the last 40 years) and skimpy beach volleyball outfits.
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b6/Beach_Volleyball_Classic_2007_(1444265768).jpg Also womens' track and field outfits are now virtual bikinis - see http://olympicgirls.net/sport-girls/erika-prezerakou_pole-vault_02.jpg If they receive most through advertising endorsements for wearing this stuff whats the problem with Eugenie Bouchard's tennis twirling? http://i1.irishmirror.ie/incoming/article5028307.ece/ALTERNATES/s615/Main-EugenieBouchard.jpg Posted by plantagenet, Wednesday, 18 November 2015 11:49:48 AM

One of the most irritating things about feminism is that it spreads the kind of learnt stupidity of which this article is a good example.
As feminists never tire of saying, "equal doesn't mean the same", so this disposes of the author's entire complaint. However if equal does mean the same, then it's not true that the sexes are equal, and this also disposes of the author's entire complaint. Let's get some home truths straight. Sex is sexist. The difference between male and female is sexist, because it intrinsically attributes different, non-equal, capacities and values to male and female. Secondly, men are sexually attracted to young good-looking women. I am tired of the sexist bigotry of the feminists in hating on men for this fact, which would be just as sexist as hating women for their reproduction. Oh that's right, the feminists do that too. Thirdly, there is no reason why people in general, and anyone in particular, should not prefer males for some purposes, and females for others. There's nothing wrong with it. And those who say there is something wrong with it, never apply this consistently to their own actions. The author is talking irritating gibberish which JUST HAPPENS to a) involve provoking disputes between groups in society b) be indoctrinated in him by the State through its propaganda arm, the universities Posted by Jardine K. Perhaps the author can outline how they are supporting the salaries of male cross country skier's. They earn a lot less then female tennis players. how should we address this serious level of sexism.

I think this is a shocking article - demeaning to we women who are the salt of the mine.
I mean. Take these images of Tatiana Grigorieva, famous Russo-Australian pole-volter: 1. draped in Aussie flag https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ5X_JC8nzW5wNeZIj6M3UYCbjFSmjqhYh_OAcUtUuIN_ASFWXoEQ 2. hair blowing in the wind http://www.saxton.com.au/images/stories/profiles/images-colour/Grigorieva_Tatiana.jpg 3. being payed big $$$ on the cover of a magazine http://www.theage.com.au/ffxImage/urlpicture_id_1069027156734_2003/11/19/T_7,0.jpg Shocking! And to think I'm bi-feminist. In the interests of true gender equality, we should make the women play with two extra balls per woman.
It would certainly liven up an otherwise dull game. Natasha, I think you should draw your brother's attention to this clip of Australian hurdler Michelle Jenneke's warm-up routine. I think he'll appreciate it. I certainly do ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xm7oX1yCFU0 Posted by Toni Lavis, Wednesday, 18 November 2015 7:29:30 PM

I don't follow tennis at all but do have a strong impression that there are differences in the games played by the top male players and top female players.
A quick look at serve speed records as a start to one of the differences Equal 29th fastest serve recorded by a male is Roger Federer at 230km/h https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fastest_recorded_tennis_serves. 2nd fastest female serve Venus Williams at 209 km/h and Serena Williams at 207 km/h Some other stats at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longest_tennis_match_records None of that tells a complete story about how good the respective athletes are or how entertaining the matches are to watch but my impression is that whilst Serena might have won more titles competing against other women than Federer has playing against other men there are few who believe she would have won them if competing against the top male players. I don't think the author is comparing apples with apples. If equality is the issue then perhaps advocate for removal of the gender qualifiers in sport and let people compete on merit. Yes, exactly. I think it was Bjorn Borg who, when asked about the difference between mens' and womens' tennis, said: "They play classical. We play rock 'n' roll." Posted by Jardine K. Jardine, Thursday, 19 November 2015 12:21:53 AM

Hi Tony Lavis
Michelle Jenneke certainly makes hurdling a hot sport Michelle Jenneke http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Kc_XslCUMQU/UBITTK3ad7I/AAAAAAAADnE/vy7YFHi1ykI/s1600/michelle-jenneke-dance-routine.jpg Posted by plantagenet, Thursday, 19 November 2015 12:39:15 AM

For once I agree with OTB.
I won't watch women's tennis at all because of the horrible grunts too many of them make. Sexism should not be allowed in any sport. However, in tennis women only have to play three sets at the most, so of course they shouldn't get the same prize money as the men. Posted by Suseonline, Thursday, 19 November 2015 1:04:53 AM

If demanding equal performance for equal pay is sexism then let the pc police label me so. If I was a woman, I would be ashamed to collect the same pay for performing at a much lower level than my male counterparts. Feminist seem to know no shame so I doubt whether they could reason beyond their victimhood dogma.

If it's any help, I always watch the women's Grand Final, at Wimbledon, Paris, Flushing Meadows - if they had a Grand Final at Gulargambone, I'd watch that too. But I can't recall the last time I watched a Men's GF.
And if you played, Natasha, I'd be happy to watch all day. Under water, if necessary. If only they had a women's sports channel ..... Joe Posted by Loudmouth, Thursday, 19 November 2015 12:49:20 PM

Sexism in Tennis?
How about sexism in Films where the female lead gets paid almost double that of the male lead. >According to Hollywood Reporter, Lawrence was paid a staggering $20 million to make the film, and stands to receive 30 per cent of profits after Passengers breaks even. >Pratt, who has fast emerged as one of Hollywood's hottest male leads following the success of Jurassic World, was also reportedly paid $12 million. As for the longed for true equality?
Let the top four of men's tennis Take on the on four in women's tennis, the women could be given a two set advantage before a single rubber is played?
Or if you think that is sexist, over a full five set, with the last set decided by a two set advantage?
Women seem to use more of the court more intelligently and if on their game on the day? Could well run the pants off their male counterparts? A few wardrobe failures might assist that outcome by providing an interesting distraction?
I don't know what penalty we could extract for losing, except perhaps a sizable donation to the development of tennis in the most poverty stricken parts of the globe?
Let those with the deepest pockets be invited to sponsor it?
