In Palestine continuing Jew-hatred must extract a heavy price : Comments

By David Singer, published 25/11/2014

Alarm bells warning of this week's massacre should have sounded loud and clear when American Secretary of State John Kerry visited Israel on 2 January.

Comical Dave,

Great stuff. You're always good for a laugh.

What 'heavy price' did you have in mind?

Another rampage in the Occupied Territories?

But you only just finished your last killing spree there with well over a thousand dead Palestinians civilians!

Surely you must wait a bit. Anything else would just be seen as indulgent.

plantagent,

Israel as America's 'friend'. Laughs all around today.

And you have the gall to quote Netanyahu. Surely he is the most dangerous man alive today.

Does the term "Jew Hatred" also go the other way as in the Torah by referring to non-believers as Goyim ("human cattle") whose ultimate destiny is to serve and be ruled by Judaism and whose murder is not considered a mortal sin?

It's one thing to play the eternal victim "get-out-of-jail-free" card but another to actively promote domestic and international terrorism by selling arms and providing military training and support to overseas dictators, ignoring agreed UN convention rulings and assassinating people at will.

If it wasn't for blind US political and financial support Israel would probably qualify as just another rogue state.

International good will and turning a blind eye to atrocity only goes so far.

I'm not sure that Juadism has the notion of a "mortal sin". It definitely had the notion of "capital sin" - for instance, picking up firewood on the sabbath. But as for the sanctity of human life, Jehovah killed jew and gentile alike with gay abandon and it was all perfectly ok.

PaulMurrayCbr,
Quite so but I should have said the Talmud, not the Torah.

The Talmud says the murder of a Jew is a capital offense and one of the three most heinous sins (the other two being idolatry and adultery).

A Jew who indirectly causes the death of another Jew is, only guilty of what Talmudic law calls a sin against the 'laws of Heaven', to be punished by God rather than by man.

To cause indirectly the death of a Gentile is no sin at all.

I'm in no way suggesting that these beliefs are widely held by Jewish people but the extremist parts of the Israeli government seem to hold them in high regard, if not by their words but by their deeds

Plantagenet:

Here are a few other memorable quotes from Netanyahu:

“The truth is that if Israel were to put down its arms there would be no more Israel. If the Arabs were to put down their arms there would be no more war.”

“I often hear them accuse Israel of Judaizing Jerusalem. That's like accusing America of Americanizing Washington, or the British of Anglicizing London. You know why we're called 'Jews'? Because we come from Judea.”

"Clearly, in Eastern and Western Palestine, there are only two peoples, the Arabs and the Jews. Just as clearly, there are only two States in that area, Jordan and Israel. The Arab State of Jordan, containing some 3 million Arabs, does not allow a single Jew to live there. It also contains 4/5 th of the territory originally allocated by this body's predecessor, the League of Nations, for the Jewish National Home. The other State, Israel, has a population of over 4 million of which one sixth is Arab. It contains less than 1/5 th of the territory originally allocated to the Jews under the Mandate?. It cannot be said, therefore, that the Arabs of Palestine are lacking a state of their own. The demand for a second Palestinian Arab State in Western Palestine, and a 22 nd Arab State in the world, is merely the latest attempt to push Israel back into the hopelessly vulnerable armistice lines of 1949"

“My first name, Benjamin, dates back a thousand years earlier to Benjamin - Binyamin - the son of Jacob, who was also known as Israel. Jacob and his 12 sons roamed these same hills of Judea and Sumeria 4,000 years ago, and there's been a continuous Jewish presence in the land ever since.”

“Well, this is an unfortunate part of the UN institution. It's the - the theater of the absurd. It doesn't only cast Israel as the villain; it often casts real villains in leading roles: Gadhafi's Libya chaired the UN Commission on Human Rights; Saddam's Iraq headed the UN Committee on Disarmament.”
