By Anthony Cox, published 2/4/2014

Hollywood takes a Christian fable and turns it on its head as a warning to those who would manage creation.

Well, the great flood, if there was one, was limited to just a few hundred thousand humans, living together, in a single large valley?
There was an ice age, the last one as recent as 14,000 years ago.
It is not incomprehensible, to understand, some of the melt-water, could have been trapped behind natural barriers, that then finally succumbed, as the water levels rose, and created the folklore that is the allegorical story of the great flood and animals saved, two by two.
We know what happens to any species, when the gene pool settles below a critical mass, meaning, this allegorical story is just folklore or fable.
In a climate change warmer wetter future, we can adapt, by building many more dams, to harvest the increased water numbers, and hold it back, when it comes down too fast as drownpours.
We certainly don't need to see the main streets of our CBD's, become killing field raging torrents, that reminiscent of the fable, sweep all before it, killing virtually all who happen to be going about their normal lawful business.
The harebrained greens have a lot to answer for, with their loony toon resistance to critical dam building!
How many of the recent flood deaths could have been prevented, by a stitch in time, dam creation?
Some of which, if very well constructed, could be serving our needs, well into the next century.

Did it have dinosaurs? If it didn't have dinosaurs, then it was BS. Everyone knows they were wiped out in the flood.

Good to see you taking up things that more suit your talents Mr. Cox, like writing movie reviews. Not your best work, but a nice break from sciencey fiction.

What an atrocious essay - full of the usual simplistic reductionist cliches that the so called skeptics specialize in.

First of all there is nothing remotely "traditional" about the world-view promoted by the Cornwall Alliance.
Indeed the world-view that they do promote is squarely within the anti religious and more importantly anti-Spiritual paradigm of scientific materialism. An essentially barbaric paradigm that reduces everything and everyone to mere hard-edged objectified thingness. A world of "matter" only, a world completely devoid of any psychic depth or feeling sensitivity.
These references describe the more ancient traditional kind of mind or psyche that informed the old-time religions, and how it was eclipsed by the hard edge objectifying ideology of scientism.

Plus this essay and website on how everyone and everything is inter-connected as or in an Indivisible Unity.

This essay too - particularly section 2 re our relationship to the non-humans and the non-human world altogether.

I only went to the first of Daffy's links which informed me;

"Therefore, the ancient "religions" are all forms of connection to the etheric dimension of existence, which is emotional in nature.

You are already connected to it via your emotional-sexual functions,"

It made me refer to my old Aleister Crowley collection. Pansexuality indeed.

Daffy's quaint diatribe actually confirms the point of the essay; which is the screwy alarmists invest and justify their belief in AGW on the basis of its spirituality.

The irony is they also want to ground it in hard formal science and objective evidence. As the paucity of the latter becomes more and more evident we can expect to see more invocations of spiritual and mystical proof such as Noah's rewriting of Biblical history. After the Bible is exhausted I guess Crowley will get a look in

Like Ken Ham, I believe the Noah movie is not realistic enough. For instance, Noah is supposed to be 600 years old, but in the trailers Russell Crowe doesn't look a day over 450! When will Hollywood learn to get their facts right?
