Clive is going to win the votes of redneck Queenslanders. The sort of people who currently vote for the Labor Party or Katter.

I just don't see Clive taking farmers or city peoples' votes. He has nothing in common with them and doesn't share their interests... neither will his party.
He will simply attract more disaffected Labor voters than Katter will. He will reduce the Labor primary vote. Where thosew preferences go is anybody's guess.

imajulianutter,
Looks like you could do with some enlightenment. Rednecks are not as you describe them at all. They're thinking people with a background in working for what they have unlike those who just back every union demand for more than they deserve & don't give a crap how much they deny others by their selfishness.
I think Clive Palmer should be given a chance to make Australians appreciate what they're so carelessly discarding by backing leftist parties.
What makes Palmer so much more appealing to the thinking person ? He's not a lawyer for a start & he can manage, he's proven that. I think he'd make a very good PM.

The problem for Clive Palmer is that there is too many right-wing consertive parties in Queensland. I'm a Queenslander, and regardless if your left or right wing there is currently a push for a strong left wing party to stand up to the consertive LNP. I have a suspicion that the media in QLD will ignore the United Australia Party in favour of a left wing party such as Labor. Even the most diehard right wing people are concerned that the right has too much power and dominance in QLD, unlike in other states where its more balanced. Queensland does not have an upper house. In the entire QLD parliament there is roughly only five left wing politicians.

A significant point of difference with Big Clive is that he has actually been a successful businessman whereas LNP / ALP / KAP / Greens contenders are exclusively failed something or other with far too many grubby lawyers pulling the strings. Furthermore, his promise to slash handouts to all the has-been parasites is something no other contender has been prepared to mention. Pauline Hanson would be an interesting addition to then UAP, hopefully that will happen before September. Whether the aforementioned mean something to the sheeple is another question but they are major factors for this little black duck. I wish I knew a bit about voodoo because I'd dearly love to stick pins into Woodpecker / RAbbott dolls. Both Greens & KAP are likewise off my radar as I believe they both would do or say whatever to get their snouts in the feeding trough.

Quote Jason: "Even the most diehard right wing people are concerned that the right has too much power and dominance in QLD"

Are you serious? I rather fear you actually believe your own words. No rightwinger was ever thought this, just as no leftwinger has ever been concerned with the leftwing dominance & bias in media reporting.

Quote Praxidice: "Pauline Hanson would be an interesting addition to then UAP, hopefully that will happen before September."

Hanson has nothing to offer. Either Katter or UAP will gain any voter who would vote for her anyway; having her would only alienate most voters; and most importantly, she's only interested in playing spoiler politics. Even as a rightwing non-Liberal, there's no sane reason to touch her with a 10 foot pole.

Chances are that what ever votes Clives party receives, will be given to the coalition by way of preferences, because despite the rift, I can't see him supporting either labor or the greens.
