Well John as this has to be my last post on this website relating to this disgusting article for the next 24 hours or so, I would like to respond to your "The fact is Hamas has fired 12,800 rockets and thousands of other mortar shells at Israel over the past 11 years. Perhaps you would agree that ‘proportionality’ would require the Israelis not to use surgical strikes but instead to fire 12,800 missiles back at the people of Gaza?"
Well err no! I would think that giving back the tradition lands to the Palestinian people would be a much greater example of humanity. I guess we should forget this ever happening, given the continued genocide of the Palestinian people, and yes there a people on both sides to lay blame at. I just hate the complete hypocrisy of the Zionistic government of Israel using the country’s military to do their filthy religious work. You can post all you like about what is just and fair; I know history will show what reality was in the future. You are morally and spiritually bankrupt and everything you say in support of the Zionists will go little toward redemption or truth once the general population, free of "Jewish" propaganda is exposed to those of us whom truth sets free. Good luck living in your 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Fantasy'. Posted by Geoff of Perth, Thursday, 29 November 2012 10:22:13 PM

Poirot: If I remember my history correctly, it was the Jewish Homeland long before the Palestinians took it by force. But I suppose that's before your time. About 2400 BC give or take a couple of years. That's before they migrated to Egypt because of the drought in Gaza, and then migrated from Egypt back to Jerusalem in Israel.
Actually, come to think of it. Israel up to as far as Tripoli & East to Petra did still belong to Egypt. Israel/Judea was a vassal state under Egypt up until about 270 BC when the Ptolemaic took control. The Israelis had it stolen off them in about 735 AD, just out of hand, I think. They reclaimed it in 1945. Hamas & their people are still terrorists, no matter how you look at it. & dreary, "by their friends ye shall know them." You support Hamas, therefore... Ya gonna lose this one too dreary. Whose front porch did you say it was? Posted by Jayb, Thursday, 29 November 2012 11:47:06 PM

Jayb,
You wrote: “If someone started kicking you in the shins, You ignored them for a while. Would you get sick of it eventually. I suppose you would ask them in your most Politically Correct language to please be a nice person & stop doing that. Would you? Or would you ask someone else to ask them nicely to stop kicking you? But they don't stop. Would you eventually smack them in the mouth or just put up with it?” Actually, I would walk away. Jonathan, To be honest, this is a case of potayto, potahto. Whether you call the killing of Al-Jabari an “assassination”, “targeted killing” or an “extrajudicial killing”, in the eyes of the world and, most particularly, the UN, it is not an acceptable practice. Further, Al-Jabari’s death was clearly the underlying cause of the recent conflict, and Hamas’ reaction was expected (even yearned for) by Israel. Why? Using LEP vs LWP to back up your argument holds no sway, not least because: “The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, however, states that all individuals have the right to life, liberty and security. Article 6 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights also says the right to life must be protected by law, and "no one shall be arbitrarily deprived" of that right. According to the United Nations' "Principles on the Effective Prevention and Investigation of Extra-legal, Arbitrary and Summary Executions," governments must prohibit such executions and ensure they are considered offenses under their state's criminal laws. "Exceptional circumstances, including a state of war or threat of war, internal political instability or any other public emergency may not be invoked as a justification of such executions. The Fourth Geneva Convention, which sets out the laws of war as applied to civilians and applies to the occupied Palestinian territories, also affirms that individuals are protected against willful killing and shall be granted the right to a fair trial.” This quote is taken from this excellent article (in which both sides of the argument are expressed). I suggest everyone reads it: http://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/features/2012/11/20121118122713481889.html Posted by scribbler, Friday, 30 November 2012 5:30:45 AM

Jayb,
So that makes it fine for them to be plopped back into that territory by the powers that be in the mid 20th century, to be installed and maintained, to allow themselves some wriggle room to expand their territory and to herd the Palestinian population into huge ghettos of despair and rancour. Using the house analogy, you're basically saying that if someone came to your door and informed you that the modern day relatives of the people who had once lived in your house had decided that they had every right to take over the premises once again by dint of former occupation - and that you would be required to shift to the back porch to allow them unfettered control....I think you'd question their rightful occupancy under the circumstances. You know, Jayb, I have a problem and a great sadness when I look at what happened to the Jewish population during WWII. Witnessing the invasion of Gaza, brought to mind the exact same feeling. An almost totally defenceless people being massacred by a powerful and merciless aggressor.....how could that invasion have been carried out by a people who suffered a similar fate not so long ago? Immature, good god what are you on?
We are talking about people's lives here.
It is so unfortunate that you have swallowed the Zionistic (that being a religious nut case cult) Cool Aid.
We should be talking about the Zionistic takeover of the Israeli government, the genocide they (the so-called chosen ones) who now reign holocaust on the Palestinians (a geographical people) who have lived in the Middle East, on land now forbidden to their residence, by a genocidal bunch of maniacs in charge of god knows what of a government system.
Most intelligent 'Israeli' people deplore the biased, criminal and unjust attacks on innocent men, women and children in Gaza, for all intent purposes a prison camp similar to Auschwitz. The remainder are the uneducated dregs of a corrupt and biased religious sect that have no meaningful understanding of what Zionism is really all about, unfortunate for them one should presuppose.
The Zionists have stopped all Palestinian economic development, commerce, trade and the usual trappings one would expect in a normal society. Get real man and take off those rose coloured glasses.
This is not a conflict between nations; this is a conflict between a bunch of sociopathic religious nuts and a bunch of people pushed into a corner (loss of their traditional and historic homeland) with no option but to fight back.
God help the Israeli people (except those poor old fascist Zionists) when the US no longer has access to cheap oil from the Middle East. Let’s then watch as the money and support from the US (except from the fundamental Zionistic fascist’s) dries up.
