By Julie Bishop, published 29/3/2012

Iran must explain why it has refused to grant full access to international inspectors if there is nothing to hide.

Halduell perhaps said it best. Bishop does nothing more than repeat the same tired propoganda emanating from Washington and Tel Aviv. A relentless refusal to look at the evidence should not be used as an excuse for embroiling Australia in yet another conflagration. If Israel and/or the US attacks Iran (and they are mad enough to do it) then as several neutral commentators have pointed out, the consequences would be horrendous, not just for Iran but for the wide world.
As to what really happened with the IAEA and the Parchin site I suggest that people read the many articles by Gareth Porter on this and related topics.
Not that Bishop, the Labor government or the Coalition government in waiting ever let facts get in the way of the sychophantic adherence to the US/Israel world view.

It amazes me how people like Julie Bishop think that threatening to bomb a country will make them less likely to want to build weapons to protect themselves. If we had two nuclear armed nations threatening to bomb us, I think we too would want to build nuclear weapons to deter them from doing so.
I personally fell Iran would pose much less of a threat with nuclear weapons than either the US or Israel. Iran is a peaceful country with no history of invading or bombing its neighbors. This stands in stark contrast to both Israel and the US.
In any case, Australia simply needs to keep out of it. We've spent enough blood and money killing people in the Middle East already. I fail to see how killing more Muslims on the other side of the world is even faintly in our interests.

Julie a mirror often projects many images; I don't know what you see in the mirror on the political front. Unfortunately you continue to push the tried and true Israel/US mantra about the evils of Iran.

I have no doubt Iran like all countries have ulterior motives behind many of their programs and projects.

Israel for all intent purposes is an Apartheid almost fascist state. Extreme Zionism is becoming more persuasive at the government level, therefore more militant and feverish.

The US continues to decline into a fascist state with Obama and his cronies signing more and more legislation turning the US sheeple into serfs for their Corporatic government minions.

Australia, on both political fronts, continues to pander to the US/Israel alliance to our longer-term detriment.

The bigger picture of this story is energy and the fight to retain a share of the ever shrinking fossil fuel energy supply on our finite planet.

US intelligence estimates from the NSA, CIA and other international focussed agencies have all testified to the US congress that Iran do not have, have not and presently show no signs of developing any nuclear weapons capability, in complete disjunct to the political mantra coming out of politicians mouths.......vis upcoming US elections and trying to retain US hegemony going that little bit longer.

I guess that you Julie will continue to support a growingly belligerent Israel and an increasing impotent US if elected at the next Australian election, sad if you ask me.

Why are not the weapons inspectors in Israel? It has 200+ nukes. Both MOSSAD and the CIA say that Iran has no nuke program.Sounds like more war mongering to me.

With allies like Pakistan you don't need enemies.

At least you're not denying that Iran is attempting to build nuclear weapons.

My sole point was that we seem to be observing an emerging nuclear arms race among Muslim states. Count Saudi Arabia as a definite and Turkey as a maybe.

As I said in my first post, should be interesting.

The nuclear genie is well and truly out of the bottle.

Why doesn't Israel sign the NPT and stop selling nuclear information to places like Pakistan as uncovered by former FBI person Sibel Edmonds?

Israel has over 200 nuclear bombs that were supported by the US way back in the 1960's when Shimon Peres started the Dimona program.

Honestly the Australian pollies are like pathetic little sheep with their support for Israel no matter what.

Why on earth would Iran want to nuke so-called Israel and risk murdering millions of Palestinians as well.

Stupid damn woman this Bishop.

Iran has not attacked a single nation in over 200 years yet the so-called Israeli's have attacked all of their neighbours multiple times, occupied and stolen their lands and slaughtered tens of thousands while destroying whole vast tracts of housing, schools and hospitals each time.

Do give the Iran fiction a rest.
