Yes.....how lucky are we. I think John, the secrets lays in ones DNA.
There is another thread about suicide and mental health that seem to fit your thread.....I my self think strongly about our DNA and what it holds......My family seem to live without anything serious going wrong medically, mentally or other wise. Yes sure we get the common cold now and again, nothing that you described. I think some people are just lucky and some go through life with all sorts of problems. To go through life with rolling with the punches is the way to go, but than again we Scottish are a hard to kill type of people. My grandmother lived to 97 and just about everyone else is in the same bracket.....just lucky?...i don't think so, it all comes down to your DNA. Take me for instants, my sores heal with-in three days and no infection, the common cold, I just get the sniffles, while others are sick for days in bed. Believe it or not, my whole family is like it. However where my ancestors come from, if you didn't fight the cold and snow, well.....nature just takes its course. So with that fact, the weak died off, and I guess....here I am with very strong genes/DNA. See all the inflictions that others suffer, my family just goes about our business, and thats that. I guess Iam looking at 70 or 80.....if not and the big C..comes to me, death is just the beginning, and think about it, all the worlds worries are over, and peace it will be. However, being this positive has its fall backs, why? you might ask is that........well I have to go to sleep and wait for the sun to come up:) Thats about the only thing that frustrates me;) All the best John, and thanks for the read. Live well, and be good to your mother:) CACTUS:) Posted by Cactus..2, Wednesday, 21 December 2011 11:08:05 PM

i will admit to what cactus said
except my genes ensure we die of broken hearts we as spirits chose this life because the genes..matched our life sentance [how long..the living spirit..chose to live in this realm[this body] i havnt read your words yet so make only general comments 3 in four dont get cancer we have 'heard of' cancer cures..since the 30's saying in ten years a cure...[well the cure was more complicated] seems cancers have 7 known paths and were great at detecting...and treating..advance symptoms that may never actually ever have become fatal..but that get into the statistic regardless so naturally survival..rates have gone up cause more cancers were detedcted early not that it was cancer..but heck the numbers do look great but the treatment...is often worse than the disease the cure can kill you..so what if it wasnt really cancer is that called a win?...or a con i prefer to die when im timed by my genes to die not before via unhelpfull 'treatment.. or dangerouse medications...[one in 100 hospitalisations is adverse reaction to perscribed drugs[one in ten results in death].. so if the cure for cancer kills you... a docter says you died cause of the cancer..[not his treatment...lol] thats how we got the smoking statistics how many were killed by quacks fraud? i will die in my own time not by some quack's drug bonus are these pre emptive mutilations [and the extra cosmetic repair...]..really needed or just look so good in the stats...we will never know cause your so gratefull and many in the 6 years it takes many to die gift their wealth to the cure...[so many big new buildings] the plan is working we live we die everyone will die everyone dies of something i chose my death as much as i chose my life style that bought it MAYBE more quickly or MAYBE...more slow but in the end we all die...eventually and govt should fully autopsy every death elimiate them killing..not healing..or over servicing every perscription must be validated every cure underwritten...every symptom confirmed Posted by one under god, Thursday, 22 December 2011 8:14:58 AM

you had stress induced cancer likely drank a bit..and had stress drug's your father got murded..by ignorance the chemicals..in his system killed him he would well know of the many..killed after 911 by the same abuse's..he sufferd/enjured... in simply trying to help others many first reponders and other service workers got set up to die...cleaning up 911 [thats why the insurance cost..for the two billion asbestos cleanup contracted into..as a condition of his 100 year lease...was going to cost more...!...than the two billion to replace the asbestos so he took out multiple insurances..against the building via his homeland/as main insuraer...that was further underwritten by global insurers...[setting up the system for the fall of 2002] anyhow..govt did the clean up im..onto page two and you went through hell and i regret that happend but you survived! now get to the real cause..of the cancer there are many non surgical cures....as simple as changing your body ph...and electolising..the cancer away..in a few minutes there was a guy in wa he was curing incurable cancers did you try any of them?...why not? see there is jobs..in treating people with radiation etc... its all about gdp... and not about how/why..why not? we only study..the sick...quater not the not sick 3/4..'s but heck..there is plenty to gain by finding them...who would never have got it and fixing them.. again im angry at the system that makes health..relate to wealth i wish you well..you overcame a most horrible event so now whats the aim of..the rest of your life? anyhow will continue on page 2 please find anger..in my words.. but not intention..for any further hurt..TO ANYONE i post..hoping we change for the better hoping that the same same..things..wont get much worse for want of being spoken Posted by one under god, Thursday, 22 December 2011 8:38:20 AM

"I also believe that I have no right to complain: That the world is full of people, the majority of who are far worse off than me and the majority of Australians."
This ! Anyone that travels through parts of the developing world, can get tried of the entitlement mentality and whingeing from seemingly more and more Australians. We help out in SE Asia (Laos was the most bombed county on the Planet, for example) and are off again in February for 6 months to Cambodia. We hope to move there if things go well, I am not tired of Australia, I am of her people. That aside, bravo to you for winning your cancer battle, my father died, aged 63, 3 years ago, his cancer had spread. Posted by Valley Guy, Thursday, 22 December 2011 8:15:06 PM

well done. The will to live is a force very few people encounter in such confronting conditions.
I found it not only the most powerful thing I've experienced but have come to understand luck has very little to do with it.
I've experienced similar life shaking experience, our difference is I've not had the physical trama but since my op for cancer I've experienced a terrible after effect. Chronic pain.
I've finally got on top of that and have this week lived on for 4 and half years and hope to join the other 7 out of 100 who have lived on for 5 years after the cancer, chemo, radiation and surgery we all underwent.
In the next 4 years you'll see more amazing things than the astonishing things you've encountered so far.
Keep positive and enjoy life. In a way we've been greatly blessed, with our suffering, as life changes dramatically and I saw myself become much more receptive to emotions and lifestyles I'd never considered or valued before.
Few come to know those joys.
