...I notice two posters attempts above were deleted for abuse, but have no desire to "go there"; however, of all the notable achievements of Michael Kirby which are well documented and included in his book, how unfortunate he allowed himself to be captured by the homosexual lobby.

I'm sure Kirby seeks to be seen as and possibly seeks to be, an upstanding citizen. He seems to be able to cleverly pitch himself as an eternally righteous and sensible person, somehow above the level of the ordinary man. However in a recent article

he strays way too far into the realms of vegetarian evangelism. Kirby portrays vegetarianism as a higher goal of an almost religious significance and describes the likes of the common chook and mullet as 'sentient creatures' which should not be eaten out of 'respect'. I'm afraid this is too close to the new Green food agenda and too far from away from fact and logic for me to continue to see Mr. Kirby as sensible beyond reproach.

It is, at best, ill thought out and while the intention is possibly benign, he again allows himself to be swept up in a current somewhat flaky social movement, this time, the dubiously motivated animal rights lobby. This is in step with the current invasion of Lawyers into the Animal Rights arena which is, most likely, no coincidence.

While this should not detract from his achievements, there are some areas where Kirby's views could receive a little more analysis in order to separate the image from the reality.

I was impressed recently when watching the ABC doco on Kirby. He is principled and all those other attributes. Unfortunately many of his principles are not biblical based. Measured by the UN standards he is a saint. Measured by biblical standards like all of us he is in desperate need of salvation. Part of repentance is calling evil evil even when trapped in it. I would suggest Kirby is fighting for evil to be legitamised (so called gay marriage).

what's that individual ever done for those of us who got robbed ? Law ? Justice ?
