The PA hoped to wound its enemies by cutting deals with Israel, but have ended-up looking weak and supine itself.

Has it ever occurred to Rhys Stanley that with its vast resources the Arab world could easily absorb the Palestinian refugees? Further has he ever considered why the refugees have been left in camps: quite unlike his much despised Israelis, who on a tiny sliver of land bereft of oil riches, have absorbed several million new settlers since 1948 including refugees from once flourishing Jewish enclaves in Arab lands.

Yes, that was noted by many in Academia as with the Israeli propaganda advertisements as well.

In relation to the article, the US involvement for devious reasons as we all know, brought to mind the comment by Albert Einstein......

'The definition of insanity is when someone keeps doing the same thing while expecting different results'.

And so it has been for twenty odd years with the Americans going through their paces, mind games with the Palestine leaderships, inadequate as they have been and calling it The Peace Process, now as we all know the instrument of deception and lies for which Presidents from Kennedy, (Laos, Cambodia) Johnson (USS LIberty, Vietnam) and Nixon and all since those days, having been responsible for countless deaths. That plus 60 years if ethnic cleansing by Israel with the imprimatur of the US make the climate for the poorly named 'Peace Process'. Never again.

Both just do not give a damn.

You just cannot ever believe them and Obama, Mr. false Rhetoric being a latter day Quisling, harking back to the days of Nazi Germany.

Sadly, the country that has come out of all these disclosures the worst is the US, honesty not being part of their make up.....ever. Anyone who trusts them again deserves what they will get.

Times are a'changing, though

Dear Antoun

You say

"Much has already been made in the international media of the extremely generous Palestinian offer to Israel to annex the majority of Jewish settlements."

What you omitted to mention is that Israel has agreed to give up an equivalent area of land in Israel to the new Palestinian state in return.

It seems that the leaks have highlighted what most of us already suspected - the Israelis do not want to negotiate, only buy time for further settlement expansion, and the PA who are weak and willing to trade anything to avoid losing further ground to Hamas.

I believe that Israel is fighting a losing battle however, their position (and especially these leaks) will further weaken PA and Israel will find themselves having only a hostile Hamas to negotiate with. Given enough time, Israelis will settle all of the prime land leaving the Palestinians to begin to favor a one-state solution, which will be the downfall of all Israel stands for.

AlGore -

"God-given land?"
Says who? The authors of a document awarding themselves something just because they can?

There is no historical basis for the assertion of ancient occupation and much evidence to the contrary.

You talk about history yet you present myth as some sort of fact.

It seems to me that Israel has always been totally opposed to any sort of peace settlement, despite any concessions made by the other side. It's always been all-or-nothing and now the world knows it too.
