The Arab working class could defeat Zionism, but first they need to control their own societies.

And I suppose Hamas had nothing to do with it?

I tend to agree with the author, however I would qualify that by stating also, that not all Jews are Zionists. But the Zionist philosophy is an extreme one, and an intolerant one, and politically a powerful element within the Israeli government.

But is it the attitude of the average Jew? I believe not.

@Shadow Minister, Hamas was founded in 1987, while the Palestinians were evicted from their lands en masse in 1948, and basically, incrementally each year since then. The traditional opposition to Israel was through Yasser Arafat leading the PLO, and Hamas only formed in his waning years as a power gap started to appear while he was either hiding for his life or under house arrest. Once he died, Hamas only then started to gain real political power within Palestine, for there was no “heir apparent” to Arafat and the PLO. Admittedly, like the Zionists, Hamas is a more extreme element of the Palestinians, and if memory serves me well, I think they were an extreme group within the PLO that cut-off from the PLO, as the PLO was working towards a more peaceful solution until Arafat’s death. And again, like the Zionists and how they only represent a small proportion of Jews, so too with Hamas representing a minority of Palestinians. Most Palestinians don’t agree with their extremist views, but currently, they are the ones with the political sway, functioning as a militia and so using force, while also being the noisiest ones on the block…and that’s politics everywhere…the noise-makers get the attention.

But don’t make the mistake of branding all Palestinians as members of Hamas, for that’s like saying all Jews are Zionists, or all Christians are Methodists. They’re just a noisy and extreme element functioning as a militia. And even then, we have to understand that this is governed by families, not by what we are familiar with in terms of military attainment of rank, where you are trained, serve and are promoted over time.

TBC...

Family members are given rank, and these are VERY extended families compared again to Western family structures and relationships. They are based on time old hierarchies of status within the communities, and then interrelate between cities through family connections. It’s a very different political situation in the Middle East than it is in the Western World. The best way I can describe it in brief is….it’s like a multitude of monarchies. That’s the difficulty in dealing with the Middle East…you’re dealing with families and their feuds, alliances and interrelationships with each other, that have been going-on for thousands of years. And their militias are primarily family-based from these power structures.

This whole conflict goes back to 1948 and not so much because of the lands lost initially, but more due to the continual expansion of borders by Israel. Hamas perceives themselves as “freedom fighters”, and to a certain extent, they are. If Israel agreed to pull its borders back to lines drawn in 1948, today, the horror would cease today, barring a few die-hard extremists, but they would be shouted-down. But Israel’s intent is to have it all and to squeeze them out completely, one way or another. Israel’s construction of the blockade cutting the Palestinians off from jobs, food, water and facilities, is no different to what the Nazi’s did in rounding-up Jews and placing them in ghettos.

How quickly they like to forget when it’s them in a position of power.

But don’t just believe me, look-up the map of Israel in 1948, and then in 10-20 yearly increments, and see how the lines expand, and how Palestine has been reduced to a ghetto over 62 years. And while doing so, also remember that Israel took every foot violently. Then ask yourself if you were in the Palestinian’s situation, what would you do?

There is currently a heated debate in Israel over "who is a zionist" and "what is zionism". Everyone there claims that THEY are zionist and THEIR way-of-life is zionism, while the others opposing them are ANTI-ZIONISTS.

This includes of course the settlers who live on occupied lands, but also those of the peace-movement who try to help the poor Palestinians and to save their crops from the settlers - they too claim that helping Palestinians regain their land is the way of "true zionism".

Those caught in between, which is the majority who are only trying to have a life and get through the day, who do not care what the government does so long as their family is out of harms' way, simply agree that helping an old lady to cross the road is a "zionist action".

The Zionists have done o Israel, what the Nazis did to Germany. There are so many Jewish scholars like Einstein who would not even entertain what these present day psychopaths are doing.Create terror in the hearts of your own people so you can manipulate them to your own ends.It has been done time and time again throughout history.

By golly,we are slow learners.

See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlElXOJV4CA Here we can witness Israeli commandos executing 19 yr old Furkan Dogan an America citizen aboard the Mavi Marmarra delivering aid to the Palistinians. He was injured and subdued and then shot five times in the head.
