Excellent essay.

This essay was written in response to that event in New York. It gives a very sobering assessment of the state of the world.

And the world is much more insane now, six years later.

Yes well!
The electorate were lied to by the media the politicians and themselves.
The work of Falk and Friel together with other like Media Lens, Spin Watch, Glasgow university and many more show ho untrustworthy the spin of our leaders and our media has been. There are exceptions leaks or reports trying to be factual. Release of the Downing Street Memo was one ; not well covered by the media in Australia however. Reporters and academics like Fisk, Pilger, Gwynne Dyer and Cole have tried as have Finkelston and Churchill each of the last two have lost university tenure for speaking truth
Never mind we have had a good time being patriotic and the voyeur fun of watching others suffer now nearly a million Iraqi dead over two refugees.
Still Bush , Cheney, Rumsfeld etc have had fun dismissing warnings and perverting intelligence as indeed have not we all.
And some still go to Church on Sundays!

This may come as a surprise to some - but I was never in favour of Bush attacking Iraq - especially after achieving some success in Afghanistan – he should have continued to eradicate Muslim militants there, and not let Ossama slip from their fingers as he did; and of course deal with the mother of Islamic Terrorism: “Pakistan”.

But in doing so (attacking Iraq) it showed the world what militant Islam is capable of. What bush did is merely open the can of worms.

If we want to be honest, the majority of the killings of innocent civilians are from militant Islam and not from the coalition. For each US caused casualty you will find a hundred caused by the Islamists themselves.

The fight in Iraq today – as it has been for the last 14 centuries – is between Shia’a and Sunni Muslims – not so much because Bush invaded an Islamic territory as muslim Imams preach to their excitable herds, adding fuel onto their convictions.
The US and allies are mostly putting down the fires after the daily el-Qaida & Co. car bombs, and arresting potential Islamikasis when they find them.

Let’s call a spade a spade. ALL conflicts anywhere on the globe today, are caused by Islamic ideologies that has proven incompatible with the rest of the civilised world.

Islam is expanding worldwide and this causes a deadly friction of civilisations. The explosive mix of inflexible Islamic holy texts, teachings of intolerance of all others, and the toxic hatred of the West massaged in their brains, is what has caused 9/11.

The real question is what is Islam prepared to do to prevent the next 9/11?

Syed,

Pretty good summary but what are you saying to us? That Bush is a terrorist himself? I think he is as have been most US Presidents. The worst kind. But Bush won't and has never actually been on the battlefront has he? He's a coward. A bully. An idiot. But he is the most powerful person on the planet and can ruin it for all of us as you all know.

Bush won't change his mind for anything as Howard won't. Both have a majority population that wants out and this shows exactly why we do not have democracy in the West. It's only democractic when it suits the people who won the last election.

You say violence cannot be eliminated by violence. Noble words indeed but wrong. Hiroshima did stop Japan. I don't laud it or agree with the action but it did end Japan's war did it not? That was violence I believe. It is just a matter of time before it happens again but next time it will be nuclear. Who presses the button? Could be any country really couldn't it?

Well said Coach- spot on.

Syed Atig ul Hassan- "The blunders on strategic and policy issues by the Bush Administration have created more enemies than friends since 9/11"

Who are these so called friends who are now our enemies? They never were our friends in the first place, Iraq war or no Iraq war.

I always know who the friends of America, Australia and allies are, and its not countries who smile with fake smiles while taking all the world aid we give them. Its not immigrants who come here and refuse to embrace the Australian flag, who still have absolute loyalty to the tribe in their old country and none whatsoever for the people of Australia. You cant make enemies of people who were false friends in the first place.

You state that "the people of the United States and it's allies need to compel their leaders to work for the creation of a threat free environment for smaller countries and to make this world really a safe place for everyone." Where is it written that the Western world must do this? Cant these people get it right in their own countries.
The Western world needs to concentrate on the safety of its own people on its own shores. We have been attacked because we have tried to be the world policeman and the world do gooder at the expense of the safety of our own people. We have let people flood into our countries who arent our friends and have only ill will towards us.

The world needs to stop whinging that all their problems need to be fixed by America. Fix your problems in your own back yard and leave the Western world out of it. Enough!! leave us alone!! its time to draw up the drawbridge, and look after our own families. Deport tribes who would threaten us. They do not appreciate our taking them in.

"Everyday the world is witnessing a new form of terror and torture"

And whose responsible for that? The muslims that's who. Because they have overpopulated and set up tribes in other peoples countries and its creating conflict world wide. Why dont they say enough to the stupid mullahs and male dominance thats creating all this misery. No they want to blame everybody but themselves especially the West because they envy them.

Incidently war and atrocities have continued just about unabated across this planet since day one. Just read your history books up to the present day. Man is too stupid to recognise his own predatory
territorial nature and so fails to come up with the right answers to lessen the ongoing warfare.
