Happy 25 millionth! People are precious – and not the problem. : Comments

Utter baseness is a distinctive trait of Malthus - a baseness which can only he indulged in by a parson who sees human suffering as the punishment for sin.

A complete crock of crap.
Homo Sapiens is the only animal species actively engaged in destroying its own life support system for its own selfish wants.
Not needs, just selfish wants.

“He (Barry) regards himself as a leftist influenced by Marxism”.

You clearly don't want to be taken seriously, Bazz, so you have nothing to say that sensible people would be interested in reading. Mass immigration is extremely bad for Australia, but you keep on deluding yourself; nobody cares.

It's the cultural and societal effects that should concern us more than the environmental. Those are almost universally bad, especially if the migrants come from a very different culture to our own. That's not to say that it isn't possible for anyone to integrate into Australia, just that it takes time, and the current rate of growth is a recipe for increasing social problems.

I don't pretend that Capitalism is a perfect system Barry, but can you name me one, other than the exception to the Rule, Singapore, that has benefited the people as a whole. Communism failed & Socialism has failed. Their result. Millions murdered or just, disappeared.

I await your answer with baited breath, knowing that it will never come.

No species including Homo Sapiens can increase indefinitely. We can limit population growth or pestilence, war, famine and death will do it for us. We can find ways to accommodate more people, but, if we don't control population growth, nature will step in.

Marx's denial of Malthus is as unrealistic as his prediction of paradise under Marxist governments.

Could it not be argued, clearing great forests and replacing them with grass and cattle was was good for profits?
Could it likewise be argued, killing off our coastal ecosystems and replacing them with fish farms, will not equally benefit society?
