Two more books, on an important union, and on climate change : Comments
By Don Aitkin, published 8/12/2016This essay is a discussion about two books, widely different in their story. Each was given to me by its author, a friend.

#2/ A solar nuclear thermal furnace in a waning (cooling) phase since the mid seventies. (NASA) doesn't produce a warmer planet, nor year on year, record upon record, average ambient temperatures!
Read more (paleontology section) books Don, particularly what the paleontology record tells what occurred around 90 millions years ago, with consequential increased Co2 levels/higher average ambient 2C.
Enough to start melting the permafrost/tundra, allowing formerly frozen methane to melt adding millions of tons to the atmosphere.
Thereby adding 3C to ambient temperatures, increased total, 5C.
According to paleontological record, enough to nearly destroy all life on planet earth?
The UK i.e., was a windswept salt laden desert, regularly swept by winds exceeding 300 kilometres PH. And where no plant life flourished?
Without which herbivores did perish and indeed the carnivores who predated them?
Moreover, current Co2 levels are reportedly, in uncharted territory?
How many more enduring droughts and record breaking heat waves, must there be, with four farmers per day suiciding at the height of our last one? Before coal funded academics grow a social conscience?
Dealing with man made climate change is just not difficult! Virtual child's play in fact!
And can be done in ways that literally forces the economy to grow quite massively! Allowing cheaper than coal thorium energy, to be applied to new, four times cheaper, deionization desalination innovation and consequent commercially viable irrigation, that makes deserts bloom and become the productive gardens of eden they could be!
Thereby allowing those embracing innovation, to be heading the queue, when the new food boom, creates massive new wealth for those positioned to take advantage! A drought proofed Australia!?
Eminently doable! All that's missing is Leadership, a different/sane policy paradigm and academics not in permenant denial!?
