By Sonia Bowditch, published 9/7/2013But to include Gillard in the same company as these former PMs, who were loved by 'protective, adoring mothers', is unjustified.

"But 'what makes Julia Gillard's heart swell most,' notes Summers, 'is what she has done for working women.'"
Had affairs with their husbands perhaps. Summers is pathetic; she is like Baird who writes this badly incorrect drivel about Gillard: http://blogs.news.com.au/heraldsun/andrewbolt/index.php/heraldsun/comments/julia_baird_fools_the_new_york_times_about_the_misgoynists_who_destroyed_gi/#commentsmore The feministas just don't get it; Gillard's demise was nothing to do with gender or misogyny but everything to do with Gillard's manifest failings. Her demise was also done by her own party and specifically by those 2 giants, Rudd and Shorten. I wonder how Summers will react if Gillard faces criminal charges? Hello cohenite,
It's always good to read things from another perspective than the usual media spin: http://www.theage.com.au/comment/how-the-pms-gender-took-over-the-agenda-20130624-2oson.html Posted by Lexi, Tuesday, 9 July 2013 2:48:31 PM

I'd forgotten about Lake, another misandrist in the Summers and Gillard mould, although I have my doubt about Gillard being a genuine misandrist and instead just being a user of men in the Joan Crawford manner.
In any event Lake's article is tripe; Gillard could have revolutionised Australian politics but instead all her defects of character and political ability were revealed. Personally speaking many of my most admired politicians are women: Thatcher, Bishop, Palin and poor Bhutto. Speaking of Bhutto if you're so concerned about misogyny why don't you rail against islam? Those chauvinists really know how to oppress a woman. Posted by cohenite, Tuesday, 9 July 2013 4:43:47 PM

Obviously Summers and the sisterhood should demonstrate how pissed off they are by voting against Rudd in the coming election. Of course, that would probably result in an Abbott victory, with a deleterious effect on their grants and their privileges and their funding -- but hey, what's a little personal sacrifice when weighed against the chance to demonstrate one's deep personal convictions?

Well, obviously that makes her a great leader, because one thing this country desperately needs is more legislation. (Why, you can almost read through the Tax Acts in a year, if you put your mind to it!)
Seriously, if Gillard had repealed 0.495 Acts per day she would have achieved much more and deserved genuine respect. Hustling us towards a nanny state governed by half-baked ideologies is -- thank goodness -- not the way to Australia's heart.
