My last flight was in July of 2006 and after that, I vowed never to fly again.
The pilots flying abilities made me wander if he was a pilot at all and when it came to landing, I thought we had bounced off the runway!
The blood drained from my face as the hostess had the audacity to ask whether we enjoyed our flight?
I'm pretty sure the majority of today's pilots do not fill the quota requirements to become a true pilot.

Spanky,

Without details it's hard to judge whether you're being unnecessarily concerned about a normal flight, or were particularly unlucky.

Landings are sometimes bumpy, particularly in some weather conditions, but the aircraft are designed to handle that, and it's not usually a source of concern. You certainly should not expect 'greased on' landings every time, or even very often.

The statistics are clear - flying by airline service of a first world country is by any reasonable measure safe. It's certainly safer than making the same journey by car (where that's possible). Typically, your chances of being involved in a fatal accident are about 1 in every million flights. With those sorts of accident rates, even aircrew, who spend at lot of time in aircraft, are unlikely to die in an accident.

Sylvia.

A bit off post because I actually just came in here to `thank you` for your kind words to Taryn. Shes a beautiful person.

Reading your comments I think you may have tripped over something or umm bumped into something pardon the pun.
I also would like to thank you for the first real grin on my face today as I had a smile at your expense I am afraid. I love! your dry humour at your description of the hostess asking if you enjoyed your flight or words to that effect.
You sound like your an Aussie with some of that dry bush humour.
Seriously when you think about it as over sixty percent of our DRs are overseas trained along with a whole host of other business you may have raised a very important issue.
Now your thread will probably be invaded with people saying thats racist but the standard of training is important.
Maybe you got a fill in live stock plane pilot.
Somewhere I read about overseas pilots being employed at cheaper rates.
It must have been something to do with flying out live animals [which terrifies them and is discusting] but I recall they were using these blokes at a much cheaper rate.

I wonder if you did a Googles would it display how many pilots are off shore trained and if so what training and hours they have to get up before taking a domestic flight.
It is An interesting topic you have raised and people should think about these things because I must addmitt I never would have.

I saw a doc on TV about training. American airlines trained up a lot of guys to use what they call the rudders with is not correct.

Its probably too late now to trace the flight but what you expereinced with very similar to what they were showing.

I guess it might pay one to find out whos incharge of the flight and where they trained.

I mean lets face it we check out who our Drs are and where they trained dont we.

I am surprised not many people have posted on this thread.
people are funny about what concerns them are they not.

I couldnt help but think of those people who went down in the planes at 9/11

:Poor buggers
