The latest bit of wankery is 'gender' activists calling on anthropologists to stop identifying human remains as male or female. This is not a joke.

The term "birth parent" refers to the biological parent (male or female/father or mother) of a child.

There are some possible variations, such as adopters, surrogates and in-vitro donors but is likely only a legal definition and I can't really see it's importance in society today.

This is about not offending women who identify as men and who give birth and go bat-shite-crazy if you call them women or mothers, (because they 'identify' as men)
