Meanwhile Dutton takes off on a two week overseas holiday but makes sure that one day will be spent on "official business", thereby sticking the taxpayer with (at least) the cost of the return air fares.

Joe Hockey and Julie Bishop often used to do the same thing so I guess it's in the traditional self-entitled and scamming Liberal DNA.

Albanese is doing what all new PMs do but also trying to repair Morrison's damage to our international reputation.

If he deems it necessary there will be plenty of time for Albo to build cubby houses and make curries for the official photographer later on.

Hi Foxy,

Some look back at the past through "rose coloured glasses", seeing only the good times, while being blind to those bad memories of the past. That's fair enough, its part of human nature to do so, but to believe we were "better off" in those days, and continually hankering for them to return is not reasonable, unfortunately we have a number of old men on this forum who do exactly that. We all have some conservative views on certain things, but to let conservatism override good progressive change is a mistake.

Rache,

True. I have already given Dutton a serve; he looks like being a dud too.

But, just because the previous government was poor - and it was - that doesn't excuse the present one. The 'others do it too' excuse is immature and unhelpful.

What is also immature is the rubbish coming from a couple of posters about critics of Albanese and his government being miffed by the loss of the previous government, and yearning for the "good old days". I was glad to see the back of the Morrison government; and I have given credit to the new government where it has been due. But, these couple of morons are all ideology and no brains. The fact is, we have no good politicians in the 21st Century; they are all self-serving rubbish, and people still going in to bat for them while they are steadily ruining the country and kowtowing to outside, global pressures, are idiots. Not even 'useful idiots'. Just idiots.

The results of the last federal election clearly show
us that Australians have taken the time to to observe
the inaction of the Morrison government over the
past 3 years and they've made their voices heard in
collective condemnation.

They results are acknowledged as nearly unprecedented
due to the huge impact that independent candidates had on
the outcome.

Some of the things that voters were angry about were -
climate inaction, gender inequality, corruption rorts
and waste, failures in international diplomacy,
wage stagnation, billionaires attempts to control our
democracy, and finally extremist and conspiratorial views.

Which just goes to show that there is hope for our country
yet, and in finding politicians that do have to care if they
want to keep their jobs.

Foxy, a shift back to the past is on the cards.
In the UK & Germany there is a shift back to coal fired power stations.
Germany is also resurrecting their nuclear power stations.
The UK is reopenning some coal mines & stations.
Unfortunately some of ours were blown up and so are lost forever.
I suspect we will see more of this rethink, especially when the cost
of renewables is totted up.
Last night wind was providing 7% so 15 times the current number of
wind turbines would have been needed for renewables only.
Just check it yourself sometimes it is an eye openner.
