Despite three years that has included bad Covid management, no worthwhile action on climate change, floods, fires, droughts and storms, pork barrelling to the max, political scandals one after the other and a trillion dollars of debt with nothing to show for it. The one issue that could see the Coalition rolled at the up coming election is the "RISING COST OF LIVING". Ten years of no real wage growth, now inflation sees everyday necessities rise in price faster than you can say "petrol".

If Morrison really wants to upset the voting public, hit them in the hip pocket, a recipe for a political disaster. In the last year the average workers purchasing power has decreased by $832, health care workers by $967, education workers $1362 and transport workers by a whopping $1497. In the year the cost of childcare rose by 6.5%. The consumer price index was up 3.5%, while real wages fell.

Well, you have only got to read the topic lines to know it is a Paul post with false and exxacerated ideas. Blaming a country's leader for floods, fires, droughts, storms, and changes in climate; Paul would have to be a radical and dangerous Green. Attributing the control of the weather to just one man. I would hope Paul is spruking his ideology in public platforms for the Greens so Voters know exactly what Greens believe.

Flood plains are created by floods.

As for flood records, Brisbane is built on a formed flood plain created over thousands of years, and there were much higher floods in the !800s, long before Scott Morrison was born. Get the facts instead of the Greens hype. http://www.bom.gov.au/qld/flood/fld_history/brisbane_history.shtml

http://www.ses.nsw.gov.au/media/4558/ins9015_it-will-flood-againfactsheet_v13_film_web.pdf
The Hawkesbury River flooded in 1857 to a height of nineteen 19 meters which was six meters above the recent flood of 1922.

Of course, the Greens want to blame our Primeminister - in their mind someone must be responsible for the pandemic and the floods. It just demonstrates their ignorance of facts.

I saw that building on flood plains has been increasing since the last big flood. I am not sure why people do not know what is meant by 'flood plains'. Nor am I sure why Morrison is to blame for people building in dangerous areas when it is state governments that have responsibility for planning and building regulations - or the have the ability to take them away from local government as has happened in SA, under a Labor government of all things.

Of course facts and reality are not allowed to get in the way of those blaming the wrong people for the self-inflicted stupidity of people useful to their rabble rousing at any given time. The rabble rousers are the same people who jump on the bandwagon when something happens to their preferred identity group that actually happens to everyone else on a regular basis without comment.

A Spectator editorial suggests that Ukraine has changed the outlook for the forthcoming election, saying that when the gravity of the situation sinks in to the "quiet Australians", they are unlikely to risk our national security to the "crazies of the Labor/Greens alliance" at such a time of global danger.

I cannot say that I particularly trust the Morrison government either, but I get the point. The old 'not as bad as Labor' might be all we have.

What Pauliar deliberately ignores is the almost zero increase in real wages (after inflation) under the KRudd and Juliar regimes. That Labor was tossed out of government with a 5.7% unemployment compared to 4.2% now under the coalition.

That Labor incompetence left about 40 000 illegal immigrants in detention incl 8000 children and 1200+ dead seems to have faded with selective amnesia as well as Labor's infamous "no carbon tax" lie.

The main reason for voting labor is mass amnesia.

In an attempt to "sandbag" their crumbling government ScunO' and Friedbrain are going to give cash bribes to voters, with their own (borrowed) money. For every $100 in bribe money $1 billion is added to the national debt. HOW DESPERATE ARE THESE FOOLS!

ttbn, as for the war in Ukranie, its not high on the radar with Australian's as far as their voting intentions are concerned. After all its only Russians killing Ukrainians in a conventional fashion. FEAR is always a top policy with the Coalition,

shonky,

Most people know something about something, but you know nothing about everything. Politics being one such subject, how did you manage that?

The fact that after almost 10 years in office the Coalition can't run on its record, and needs to grease palms to try and win votes, speaks volumes.

Has your mob given up on evoking the "Ghost of Gough" after all its only been 50 years. Now it's Rudd and Gillard.

Pauliar,

Another moronic post from you. You can't challenge any of the facts I have posted so you just stick to insults.

Having steered Aus through a pandemic, the country has done better than just about everywhere else and made it with a 4% unemployment. Labor's record by comparison is abysmal. As for the Fwits in the greens the less said the better the only thing they contributed was in bringing Juliar down.

Rather than the zero net emissions by 2050 stupidity , all Morrison has to do is make law, zero net migration, instantly, & he will win any election in a landslide that would last decades.

Guess they are too stupid to see our good employment situation is the result on no migration for just a couple of years.

If it was Scott Morrison that caused the floods in Lismore, then who caused the floods in Lismore when a total of 2,213 mm was recorded in 1893. Floods and fires caused by Climate Change is a Greens scare mongering tactic to garner the followering of the ininforned, uneducated and political naive.

As the federal election approaches, politicians need to take notice of a poll that shows Australians prioritise national defence over net zero nonsense. A majority of Australians don't see net zero just as an economic problem, but as a threat to our national defence.

The Dynata poll shows the 61% of Australians agree that government should be more focused on defence rather than meeting net zero emissions by 2050.

Obviously climate change 'action' rates below national security. That's what 61% of respondents said. The same applies in the UK, where the PM intends to give the climate a "pass" to secure their energy by reliable means, as do the Europeans, who will now be sticking to nuclear plants. Even Elon Musk can see the need for increased fossil fuel production. Australia needs to 'get with the program'.

There is no doubt that Australians are so wet, so unable to think for themselves and therefore so dependent on someone telling them what to do, that strong leadership is what wins elections. Marshmallow was pathetic. Malagreek is strong.

All of which leaves a big problem for the plebs when they vote in the federal election. Both leaders are pathetic.

Senator Don Farrell was onto something when he reminded voters that Marshall had contracted out the running of the state to the police commissioner and Madam Spurrier (Madwoman in the Attic) for the last 18 months of Covid.

If this was significant to voters, it will also affect Morrison who is a great one for hiding behind others: public servants, Labor state premiers, an unconstitutional state 'cabinet' - you name it, he avoids responsibility for it.

There is no single issue that is top prioritory with ALL voters, and particularly with swing voters. Although the issue of "cost of living" is likely to be front and center with many aspirational voters, who have no strong affiliations with any particular party. What generally carries the day is perception amoung the non committed; " is the government worth returning, or should their be a change." This election will be no different.

The Labor / pedogreen alliance also did sod all to reduce the cost of living and pretty much did exactly the opposite with power prices rising about 67% in 3 years under Juliar.

So Pauliar would have you try and fix the problems under this government by voting in a bunch of clowns that screwed it up even worse the last time they were in power.

Paul1405 said "The South Australian election yesterday, seen big swings to Labor and the Greens. Answer- Marshall perhaps was the premier that got the SA Liberal Party over the line- similar to Blair for the British Labour Party. I don't think he was necessarily bad- he just isn't connected. Newman went down because of his mate the Transport Minister perhaps- sadly they were both engineers- a skill badly needed in government in my view. Sadly many capable people see politics as a waste of time- paraphrasing Plato "if the right people don't engage in politics the wrong people get power". On the other hand in Atlas Shrugged Ayn Rand promotes the idea of retreat from the world- maybe there is an alternative reason for her beliefs- but the view is attractive- and there is value in self sufficiency. As Ayn Rand says you shouldn't contribute to a system that acts to destroy you. Stiglitz says similar.

If the Liberal Party does better research on the SA public and don't rely on what the apparently corrupt ABC, Q&A, Insight says then they will do better- get out and talk to the people of SA- incognito- this is real grass roots politics.

SA has a history of good leaders and isn't subject to the sort of politics of the eastern states

The little I seen and read of Marshall, he appeared personally okay, but the extent of corruption within his government and his terrible timing with opening up for Covid, health was a big concern as well. The fact Labor put up Fabio, the most beautiful man in the Cosmos, and poor old MM looked like a three toed sloth didn't help his chances.

shonky,

You asked, what corruption? I answered you, you have no response, other that a feeble attempt at deflection. Voters tend not to like cabinet ministers resigning under a cloud, the SA government had four, 3 ministers and a LC president resign. Morrison has had several senior people resign under a cloud. A good example is your pin up boy 'Cry Baby' Porter, accused of raping a 16 year old girl, and with a "reputation" around the bars and fleshpots of Canberra, all while the little woman was expected to keep the home fires burning back in Perth. Then there was the family man, and man of godly Christian values Bonking Barney! The list goes on, LNP back bencher Laming was accused of upskirting, he's gone. and there are others.

You should read policy, instead of making up lies. Not just Australia, but the world needs a sustainable energy policy based on renewables if we are going to have any chance of avoiding the worse of the climate catastrophe that is upon us now. You seem to be blind to the reality. As for coal, it will not be Australia that makes the call to end its use, that decision will be made by others as the economics and popular opinion will be the dictate.

A LIBERAL SENATOR Fierravanti-Well has said; ""Morrison might profess to be Christian, but there was nothing Christian about what was done to Michael Towke, (a person of Lebanese heritage}" Senator Fierravanti-Wells told the Upper House she had been told of "several statutory declarations to attest to racial comments made by Morrison at the time that we can't have a Lebanese person in Cook".

If true, this shows Morrison to be a racists, and a hater of ethnic Australians, add them to all the others.

The NSW Health workers Union just found a way to stall recovery from the COVID saga by calling strikes for more pay. I would support them if the strikes were for more workers but more pay ? Shame on Labor & their supporters to be in bed with unions.
Why not wait till some recover is in progress ?

Paul, you would remember the Chronulla riots, and they were about Muslims creating conflict at local Chronulla beach - that was the wisdom behind not having a Muslim run in the Seat of Cook which includes Chronulla. It had nothing to do with being lebanese, as Gladys former NSW Premier is lebanese. It was the fact of being Muslim representing the area for the Liberals.

These gits can't even tell the difference between Race & Religion !

Paul SBS and 7 News has been saying Michael Towke is a Muslim, and the Muslim community has come out in support of Scott Morrison. It is the news reporting that has misrepresented the facts. I have several Lebanese Christian friends from Church - wonderful people.

Thanks to ScumO' and Friedbrain,

Its been reported today, that food prices are rising at an average rate of 16% pa, some by as much as 40% to 50%. Workers can expect a 2% to 2.5% pay rise sometime this year. LIBERAL PARTY policy is to reduce wages, while boosting profits.

I believe the actions of the state leaders have caused the price rises not those of the Liberal National Coalition not that my or Paul1405's opinion matters.

Here we go again from the minds of the ignorant, blaming the Government for price rises, rather than production and transport costs and availability. They do not understand market forces so have to blame the Government. Of course, their mind is conditioned by communist thinking having read too much Marxist literature.

Josephus- With the greatest of respect. I think that reading between the lines you aren't necessarily wrong but- not allowing truck drivers to work will create a short supply of truck drivers- according to economic theory prices are influenced by supply and demand- also as Adam Smith recognised crises will often cause stockpiling and price gouging- for various reasons and levels.

Jose'

Are not Morrison and his sidekick the self professed "GURUS OF ECONOMIC MANAGEMENT". The Coalition made the mistake of pumping a trillion dollars into the economy in the form of direct handouts, and now the chickens are coming home to roost in the form of inflation. Australians will spend the next 40 or 50 years trying to sort this mess out, the LIBERAL DEBT is staggering.

As began recently farmers are to pay hourly rates rather than payment by picking volumes. This will increase prices at the farm gate to begin with.

Paul with lock down of businesses during covid, put people out of work and income - was the Government going to allow a recession and starvation or fund the people needing income? Fortunately, our mining and agriculture assisted the funding of the lockdown. It is these industries that will reduce our future debt.

Pauliar,

Considering that Australia spend less than most other countries and that just about every week Labor was calling for more money to be spent, one can only imagine the debt Australia would have had if morons such as Albozo and Dandemic had their hands in the cookie jar.

At least $130 billion borrowed and then channelled into the pockets of the mega rich by ScumO' and Friedbrain. Double what Labor spent on saving us from recession during the GFC. OUR great, great grandchildren will be paying for Coalition economic mismanagement till the year 3034!

I think Paul1405 is saying that state lock-downs caused at least 130 Billion Dollars in lost economic output that needed to be made up by federal lending to prevent homelessness and starvation.

CM,

I didn't realise the likes of Gerry Harvey were starving and homeless. Greasy Gerry's $12 mill of taxpayers cash will go a long way towards keeping the wolf from the door.

$130 billion was borrowed on the taxpayer, and put into the pockets of the magazine rich.

The whole point of the payment was to provide income to those people that were stood down during the lockdowns. This money was paid to the employees via the employers.

HN returned the money that they didn't distribute but left whinge morons are now complaining that they still made a profit.

I was wrong, Greedy Gerry pocketed $22 million, not $12 million, despite doubling profits to $462 million for 6 months. This is small beer compared to the $130 billion mega rich businesses pocketed from taxpayer borrowed money that ScumO' and Friedbrain splashed around to their mates.

"HN returned the money that they didn't distribute" What, the millions that were given out as bonuses to company exects, and dividends to rich share holders, is that the money that wasn't returned. That's like a bloke on $200k a year been given the dole as a top up, and then told to keep it.

Paul,

You cocked it up again. HN returned $6m of the $22m that he hadn't distributed to employees.

He could have made just as much money from retrenching the employees and rehiring them after lockdown.

Only a left whinge dimwit can't grasp that. Luckily none of the greens will ever be in power.

Pauliar,

"Senior NSW Greens MP David Shoebridge is facing allegations he bullied former female colleagues and staff over a decade, leaving one woman feeling “unsafe” and driving party members to write a formal letter of complaint.

The Australian can reveal multiple incidents where women in the party were allegedly targeted and belittled by Mr Shoebridge, who holds the No 1 spot on the Greens’ NSW Senate ticket.

Greens sources said Mr Shoebridge’s alleged bad behaviour contravened the party’s core principles of respect and nonviolence, and was well known among Greens staffers."

I see Albozo when questioned on economics said unemployment was 5.4% when it is 4% What a moron.

Looks like ScumO' has laid an egg with his captains picked candidate in the seat of Warringah, Katherine Deves. Deves has been raving on social media against transgender people, that might go down well with some on a conservative forum like this, but it won't win her any votes in the progressive burbs of Warringh. The Liberal Treasure of NSW, Matt Kean has called for Deves sacking. Things are looking good in Warringah for Zali Steggall.
