Trump is a mqaster of hyperbole, and the left media interpret it as literal. However, there were groups among the protesters who were not Trump supporters who were just there to create trouble as identified by the reports.

Josephus,
Not to take Trump literally? The Los Angeles Times did an article on that subject a few years back. They summed it up as "fairly ridiculous hogwash," as a prescription not to take an actual president of the United States and what he says. They point out that "when he says millions of people voted illegally, how should the news media go about taking that claim? Are you suggesting that the man should get a free pass whenever his mouth gets him into trouble? They rightly tell us that "What a President says matters. And that "credibility with citizens, aliies, and others, is a finite resource, "easily depleted when you think you'll never be held to account for what you blurt out." http://latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-goldberg-trump-seriously-literally-21061206-story.html Posted by Foxy, Tuesday, 4 January 2022 5:55:58 PM

There's a significance difference between hyperbole and outright lying but those devout Trumpa-Loompas can't see it and mistake ignorance and narcissism for some sort of innate intelligence.
The worst thing Trump has likely done is to set the stage for another extreme right-wing candidate (but with brains) to finally trash what's left of their damaged democracy. Posted by rache, Tuesday, 4 January 2022 6:39:35 PM

One year on from the Capatol riots Trump continues with his 'Big Lie', the election was rigged and therefore stolen from him. Despite a 7 million vote defeat Trump can't get over his ego and accept his rejection.
