Yes FOXY I do agree with you, he brought much laughter and humour into our living rooms over the years, and he was, in many cases, funnier than many of his principle host's. He and Don LANE the 'lanky yank' seemed to work well together I thought. Indeed, Vale Bert NEWTON, you will be missed. And my sincere condolences to Pattie and the family.

Thanks O Sung Wu.
I grew up watching Bert. He gave us so much laughter. Truly a beloved TV icon. He died far too soon. But I read that he'd had health complications from pneumonia to a quadruple heart by-pass, to a right leg amputation, and finally ending up in palliative care in a private medical facility. Poor man, poor family. As his young grandaughter said to Patti , "Death is a part of life Gran." so poignant. My heart and my prayers go out to Patti and her family. Bert Newton's state funeral will be held at St. Patrick's
Cathedral in Melbourne - sometime next week. The details are yet to be announced. His son Matthew Newton will not be attending the funeral due to travel complications and restrictions. His mother Patti explained however that Matthew had spoken to his father via skype and was in constant contact prior to his father's death. She made it quite clear there was no animosity between them. That everything was fine. Posted by Foxy, Tuesday, 2 November 2021 10:40:17 AM

It looks like nobody else is going to comment on

died in Melbourne age 83 on Saturday 30th October 2021.
There has been an outpouring of grief and sympathy from
the public expressed to his wife Patti and family.
It's obvious that Bert shall be missed by so many Australians.
The Victorian Premier Daniel
Andrews has offered the family a State Funeral which
has been accepted. The date is yet to be announced.
Bert Newton was more than a media personality and
presenter. He meant a great deal to so many people.
He made us laugh - and we felt that we knew him.
His talent covered radio, theatre, and television. He was
a Logie Hall of Fame inductee, a quadruple Gold Logie
award-winning entertainer. He hosted the Logie awards
on 17 occasions. And he also helped and encouraged many
young Australian trying to break into the industry.
Bert was one of a kind - as Rove McManus and others can
testify.
My Deepest Sympathy and Prayers go out to Patti
and Bert's family.
May he rest in peace.
The entertainment industry will be that much poorer
without Bert.
