Would you stay in or go out? COVID-19 vs earthquake?

Let's say Victorian Premier Dan Andrews has just made a decision that no people are to leave their homes due to COVID-19. If one does leave their home they will be dealt with by authorities.

Large numbers of police will be employed to enforce such a move as he points out, that being one police officer per every five people. He has stated all people who go out will be constrained, pushed to the ground, pepper sprayed, forced back into their home and would later go to court.

But let's say as did occur recently, Melbourne and other parts of Victoria were hit by an earthquake. What then? If you were living in Victoria and an earthquake had hit would you leave your home, go against his ruling and defy him or would you simply live out the earthquake indoors, putting your life at risk, facing the unknown?

Stay at home and become a martyr - with the Victorian holocaust costing 6 million lives, Andrews too is likely to commit suicide rather than be captured alive, problem solved!

All the evidence and advice is to stay inside during an earthquake, under a table, not under a door frame, away from windows and not in the kitchen. There are stacks of websites worldwide giving earthquake survival advice, so I'm not going to bother with posting links - you can find them easily.

If you run outside, you are more likely to be hit with bits falling off your house as you do so. For instance in the Christchurch earthquake, the commonest damage to residential houses was the chimney falling off - so common that someone wrote a book about it: All Fall down Christchurch's lost chimneys. If you are out and about in town or city during an earthquake, your biggest danger is being hit by random falling bricks or concrete. A bit like the danger from random covid virus particles from people you cross paths with.

Issy, get in the sunny safest room in the house. Don't forget to shut the kids!

If your house was on fire and Danny Boy said you have to stay put, what would you do if the front door was wide open? I know you would stay put and become a Chrispy Skin Chicken. You always wanted to be a black fella!

Issy I'm still laughing at your relos running about naked in the fields. Do they still do that sort of thing?

Paul,
Times have changed in the ancestral village, it has grown to a small town but all the modern houses are on the opposite side of the main road.
The “original” village is seperate and.old world and very expensive to buy into.
None of the hovels remain, all having been replaced between about 1890 and 1900 when things were looking up.
Clothing has become commonplace and no one drives a tractor in the nude, at least there have been no reports of such aberrant behaviour=r.

Onetanit, the only folk in Australia rich enough to PLAY SLOTS (not a term we are familiar with in Aussie) are our AGED WELFARE recipients. You can find hoards of these OLD FARTS (not a term you may be familiar with) any day of the week down at GOD'S WAITING ROOM (another term you may not be familiar with) where they happily play slots to their hearts content, or until the cash runs out.

I assume you are a SEPTIC TANK (Yank), thankyou for nothing.

The Victorian government is currently unaccountable to its electorate. The state is governed by fiat. It's parliament is suspended. Its police force is politicised. Its judicial systems have been nobbled. And the Marxist nutters tell us that they like it that way.

This is still a legitimate topic: you need to recognise and respect that other people's thought processes can be quite different from yours, which are not necessarily better.
