To divert the thread a little, have any of you heard substantial talk
of using the "emergency" regulations now in use for covid for another
"emergency" ie global warming ?
I have heard suggestions such as if you live near a station or bus
route and your work destination is similarly placed you would not be
allowed to drive to work.
Driving to sport events also banned. Etc etc.
Did you see the Father's Day event on the QLD border ?
If public servants can generate such an event, nothing would surprise me !

Haven't heard of that, no. But there was a reminder a couple of days ago of Justice Kirby's concern about executive government's use of emergency powers and that parliament should be having more say/some say in the process. I couldn't find his original comments, and he is now retired.

The Winery adopting a Covid Passport seems to be a desperate attempt at product differentiation. The irony here is businesses deserve some respite and wineries rely on tourism. I often muse on the instability and impact of the tourism industry and it's itinerant population. A population in search of novelty over stability- a force for chaos.

I find it sad that businesses invest their lives to create something better just to have it torn down by those that can create nothing on their own but think that they know better.

The Covid response seems to be along similar lines.

More Broadly...

But again often businesses dominate their space and create illegitimate laws that prevent legitimate competition by creating red tape.

Francisco d'Anconia's speech on the virtue of money seems to apply here.

The irony is that some claim to be advocates of free trade when it suits them but squash legitimate competition- effectively becoming the looters. Ironically I would be against what is known as free trade between nations as other factors seem to be valid.

We do admittedly live in a space of heterogeneous philosophy often contradictory.

Our society should breed productive individuals capable of self sufficiency- so that they can build their own houses and the houses of the community, grow their own food selling the excess- with minimal government interference and red tape- creating the institutions of life. This is where the strength and stability of the nation is based.

To Armchair Critic- Clausewitz called the confusion of emergencies "the fog of war". It seems to apply to the Corona situation. Though you can be sure that "special interest groups" are using the crisis (and the emergency powers) to their advantage.

ttbn, the warmists have noticed how readily the public has accepted
the health regulations and wish to apply the same legal powers to
reduce CO2 emmissions. It has also become part of "THE GREAT RESET"
that Herr Schwarb of the Davos conference has been advocating.
The ultimate aim & principle is that you will own nothing and need nothing.
It has not become official Greens policy but it is being mumbled about.
Not sure where to find discussion about it. I think it is being kept
on the QT at present because it would be a real time bomb.
