Good to see tomorrows leaders ,and todays young thinkers out there protesting 'Climate Change'. One student leader Pia O'Flynn said government inaction had prompted her involvement. "I have been striking school for almost two-and-a-half years now and in this time the government has failed to produce climate solutions which guarantee me and future generations a liveable future," Ms O'Flynn said.

Not that I condone kids missing school, but sometimes, somethings, are more pressing, and more important than the day to day need for schooling. 'Climate Change' is such an important issue for tomorrows generation that a day off school to protest is far more valuable than anything they could learn inside the classroom in 24 hours.

Two-and-a-half years of striking school will guarantee the silly twit will be very poorly educated, & totally incapable of understand any scientific principle.

Make her eminently suitable for selection as a ratbag green candidate for some publicly funded position.

Hi Paul,

Lets hope the voices of young people will be
heard. Many of us won't be around for that
long, perhaps a few decades however our
school kids will have to survive on this
planet for far, far, longer. Anyone with young children
or grandchildren surely would be supporting this
strike.

Thanks Foxy, I totally agree. Here we have Morrison committing to the waste of $600 million for a non-commercially viable gas fired power station in the Hunter. Morrisons motivation is a syndical attempt to save the scandal ridden, corrupt, minority Berejiklian government in todays by-election. A by-election which would have been unnecessary if it was not for the resignation of an accused rapists within the Coalition.

Cumbo, good to see yah back, more words of wisdom from you, just like those you produce about the Covid-19 vaccine.

Shadow Minister,

Unskilled workers get on the job training and become
skilled be it driving taxis, in our aged care facilities,
working in hospitals, libraries, restaurants, child-care,
and even in politics. There are skills that are not
taught in schools but are acquired on the jobs.

Australia's indoctrinated Uni students copy-catting that Swedish indoctrinated, spoiled kid !
For once, I'd like to see the students come up with something original instead of copying !
How about demonstrating against the dumbing-down curricular ?
They'd get so much support, it'd overwhelm them.

Individual,

The kids are not copying anybody. They're trying
to save the planet for future generations.

You consistently talk about "indoctrination"
do you realise that "indoctrination"under writes
every faith-based belief system. That it is the
primary means for the transmission of values from
one generation to the next and that it would be hard
to imagine any parental advice to young children
without propaganda of some kind featured
extensively.

I have no intention of leaving because of three awful people who think that their crap doesn't smell. All other posters are fine, and you three wackjobs are easily ignored by anyone who finds you totally obnoxious, as I do. You epitomise the cancel culture without having the intelligence or influence to do anything but irritate the handful of people you bore shitless.

On the matter of dumb and tiresome children waving bits of cardboard about and shrieking Marxist propaganda, they are too immature and stupid to realise that they are dupes - useful idiots - for the climate change cult, which is part of cancel culture, masquerading as science, but really attacking science, knowledge, education, freedom, democracy, Western values and capitalism.

"if you're not a socialist at 20 you've got no heart, if you're still one at 40 you've got no head." unattributable.

These kids, or at least most of them, will grow up and learn for themselves, the error of their current aims. When you've got a family and have to pay the electricity bill, renewables will seem less attractive. When you see that the predictions of the doomsayers never materialise, most will start to question the cult of climate.

Of course there will always be the few who never learn (see above posts) but they won't prevail. The idealistic youth will grow a "head" and see the climate claims for what they are.

The teenage girls school striking on the streets about global warming,
I wonder how they will react if I am right in what I believe that the
global warming has peaked on schedule around 2000 ?
After all it is 300 years from the minimum known as the Maunder Minimum.
It will be another 300 to 500 years before the next minimum.
If this becomes evident what physiological affect will it have on
those girls who were so distraught at the protests ?
They may be in their 20s by that time and so may have matured, but
there are more following on.

Josephus, you may be right except your figures seem much bigger than
anything I have seen elsewhere.
It is seems to be sinking in that renewables are not the cheapest way
to generate electricity. Germany found that out the hard way, but
Australia is so much bigger it might just be possible to build enough
wind turbines on enough sites around Australia to always find some wind.
This would be helped by having many turbines down in the Roaring Fourties.
However that implies that there must be a lot of duplication.
That is where the cheap theory dies.
Ultimately all will be forced to accept that nuclear energy although
expensive is still a lot cheaper than renewables.
Perhaps the Rolls Royce Modular type of reactor will be the solution.

Australia's emissions as a % of the world have dropped in the last 10 years from 1.4% to 1.16%. So although Australia is dropping its emissions (more than the vast majority of the world). Most countries are increasing them.

So if these juvenile ignoramuses wanted to have any real effect they would hold these protests outside the Chinese and Indian embassies.

According to an article in The Conversation -
we're told that our emissions are
approx. - 1.3%
of the global total. But our population is 0.3% of
the global total.

The article argues that -

If rich countries like Australia are not doing more
to reduce their disproportionately high emissions,
what possible incentive is there for developing countries
to take the issue seriously. Countries like India,
Brazil, and China can well ask - why should they reduce
emissions when Australia does so little. This is an
argument often used by Alan Jones. It is a simplistic
one. And can be better explained from a different
perspective.

In this sense Australia's position on climate change is
significant not only for the percentage of greenhouse
gases it produces but for the personal influence on
global policy.

As a nation proud of "punching above its weight" in
the fields of sport and technology we are missing a big
chance to show global leadership on climate.

So these dimwitted children living with their mobile 5G phones in air conditioned classrooms brainwashed by leftist teachers ignorantly remove any possibility that children in the third world have of a chance of a better life under Western freedom values, but allow Communist China to give them the substance they desire produced by our coal and iron ore in Chinese sweat shops.

The Climate Propaganda mixed with Covid is a Chinese attempt to weaken the Western world and introduce dependency on Government - ultimately introducing Communist ideology.

The World Organizations want 'One World Government' and China is posing as the front runner. There will be no such thing as private ownership and freedom of speech, just ask any Chinese what they think of their Governments human rights - they are silent or praise it.

Climate scaremongering if a ploy to control the next generation, by promoting irrational fears, it happens in every teenage generation - in my day it was the fear of a Nuclear war, "No More Nuclear Bombs"; as we were told there are enough nuclear Bombs to destroy the World population.

So what you and these other nutcrackers are saying, is that we need to punish ourselves harshly so that India, Brazil and China feel 'compelled' to do more.

That if we don't turn off the lights and shoot ourselves in the foot.
China Brazil and India won't change.

Honestly I really don't give a crap about the ways in which foreign countries generate power.
I'm happy to keep exporting coal wherever its profitable, so long and it creates AUSSIE JOBS and puts AUSSIE MEALS on AUSSIE TABLES.

On 18 May, before the protest, that far lfty rag, the Sunraysia Daily, Mildura, provided two of the organisers of the Mildura school protest the opportunity to answer the criticism and trolling the protest had received. Unfortunately, the newspaper is behind a paywall, but the students' comments were intelligent and balanced - it is well worth a read. To mention just two points: 1. The protest march was at lunch-time so the students were not endangering their education. 2.

(Cont.) 2. These two protest organisers were top achievers in terms of the courses undertaken and their results.

I wonder if the negative slurs in the comments here about the protesting school students are due to fear that just maybe the students actively involved are the smartest of their generation and are the ones who will go on to be future leaders. That maybe these future leaders will think differently from oldies today - even if, especially if, they are not left-wingers.

It is fine to view the future and plan and take steps to ensure the future and the students of this generation will inherit the future. However to blame and protest Governments and the previous generations is not the answer. We are a free market and if something better works and pays the bills the smart achievers will follow that course. If you have a method of extracting hydrogen from H2O develop it with private money that people believe in your product, not the Government who are there to administer fair play with the rules. Protest on Climate that want to depend on tax money to propel the future will eat itself bankrupt. All forward achievements in science have been carried out by individuals or companies doing their research. Harness the skill, not the hostile protesting emotion.

I've just watched the news and seen those
anti-vaxer and anti- lockdown protestors
here in Melbourne and the hard time they were
giving police officers - from spitting to
other disgusting habits like purposely
"breathing" on them with a vengeance . It
was not on. They can protest - but not like
that!

Anyway, the police stayed calm and had things
under control very quickly.

Perhaps these adults could learn something
from their children on how to protest!
And what works and what doesn't.
