But none of the disaster is a mistake. From the Democrat perspective, they are importing future voters much as the Blair government thought of their immigration expansion. So this is not an error but a policy. The only concern for them is that it doesn't look good and is extremely unpopular - although given the changes being engineered to the electoral system, popular opinion probably no long matters.

Its so bad that the boarder Czar appointed by Biden only a month or two ago, has resigned. It seems she'd prefer to not be the scape-goat for this mess. Biden appointed Harris to fix the mess but she won't go anywhere near the border.

Funnily (or sadly) there are stories that the Biden regime is considering plans to recommence the construction of the 'big, beautiful wall'. I that happens the mental contortions the TDS crowd will have to go through to reconcile their allegiances will make Nadia Comaneci appear positively stiff jointed.

Again I'd point out that those who were anxious to display their concern for the kids when it disparaged Trump are now only concerned to not disparage Biden and his handlers, the kids be damned.

Yes. Although the majority of the kids in custody aren't removed from their parents, such separation does continue, primarily where the authorities feel the kid is in some danger. Indeed just today there are reports of complaints from parents that they can't get information on separated kids.

But it is true that the majority of the kids were self-separated. Basically the Biden regime told the parents that if the whole family arrived at the border they would not be permitted entry but if the kids turned up alone, they'd be accepted housed, fed and protected. Then once the kids were established in the US the parents could apply to be re-united.

So the parents took the hint and sent their kids over unaccompanied. Some drowned in the Rio Grande. Some were simply dropped over the fence. Some were abandoned in the desert in the hope that the US authorities would find them.

So if you think that the government separating kids from parents is different or better than government incentivising parents to abandon their own kids, then so be it. But I wonder if a 12 year old kid, held with 250 others in a cage designed for 60, ill-fed and trying to avoid sexual assault, would recognise the difference.

This whole thing is a disaster for the US, for the countries losing their peoples and for the kids in particular. Its orders of magnitude worse than the situation that applied before the election and is only getting worse. It is caused by the messaging from the new regime who basically said that they doors were open. Even the Mexican leadership has blamed Biden for giving out the wrong signals and creating what is mess in their border provinces.

There is no respite from this. Indeed the indications are that the numbers are ramping up.

You are missing my point, separating children stopped under Trump, but there are still more children in cages now since Biden made it attractive to send unaccompanied children across the border.
