The number of children aged 0-14 years on antidepressants has doubled in the last 6 years because of ‘eco-anxiety’. 89% of kids report that they have been affected by the catastrophic reporting of climate change from a moderate level to a significant one. Not at all helped by a ‘Kids Help Line’ urging them to get involved and become activists.

A typical ttbn post

He does not do his OLO mates the courtesy of providing Links/Sources to prove or frame his case.

Where did ttbn conjure up this latest simplistic pitch?

individual,

I was going to say, "Look what you Lefties have done", but changed it in case it looked too judgmental. I can't win. Still, I suppose I'm providing a service for people who don't have much to say for themselves, but who are quick to jump on people who do. Maybe they will nominate me for an award next Australia Day.

Come on plantagenet, this is OLO, on line opinion, where real people, [mostly], give real opinions, formed in the crucible of real life. It is not somewhere where cloistered academics pontificate fool opinions formed in the sheltered workshop of academia.

I automatically discount most posts with lots of references, knowing they will take me to some academics lefty twaddle, useful only to idiots who can't think for themselves, so have to regurgitate the twaddle that passes for learned opinion these days.

I suggest you try opening your eyes & grey matter to think for yourself, rather than taking something as gospel, simply because it was published in some lefty academic paper.

If you cannot form an opinion of what other posters say without having references from a third party you are wasting your time here; you either agree or disagree with the content of the post.

The few posters always squealing for references use them themselves because they can't think for themselves. It's the opinion or idea we are supposed to be dealing with, not who said it or where it came from. On the few occasions I've used references, the reactions to the idea have always been the same as they have been without references, and a favourite 'argument' is often to rubbish the reference anyway.
