Boris Johnson despite all the naysayers has achieved a Brexit deal that will protect trade with the EU whilst breaking the shackles of EU control.

He has achieved what he promised.

Yes Minister, the Bananas Have the Correct EU Specified Bend !
The subject of an episode of Yes Minister, remember ?

Well after all that Brexit happened.
I think Yes Minister had quite a significant part in alerting the UK
population to some of the politically correctness coming out of Brussels.
I visited a friend in the UK some years back and read in the local
paper how the local town council, the County Council and the British
government had all approved a bypass road around a Cheshire town.
The proposal went to Brussels and it was refused because it did not
comply with an EU planning decisions. So the town had no appeal and
probably still have to put up with the congestion in their High Street.
My comment to my friend was, is the UK a colony of Brussels ?
Yes, he said it is !

Just this year I read that the EU when planning their bureaucratic
structures for administering the EU countries settled on the
organisation plan of, wait for it; The British Colonial Office !
Need any more be said ?

Shadow,
It's good that this is finally sorted. However whether the deal is a good one depends on the details, so I'm reserving judgement for the moment.

Bazz, That wasn't in Yes Minister.
Nor was it reality. I've read the EU regulations concerning bananas, and it's not their shape that's regulated; 'twas their size.

Now IMO the EU should have no business restricting people's freedom to trade whatever size of bananas they want. And obviously many others concur, as the EU voted on whether to abolish those restrictions. And more than 50% of the European Parliament voted to keep them. But the really weird bit is that for some reason that I'm still not sure about, a 2/3 majority was required to keep that regulation, so it was abolished by winning a minority of the vote!

The Yanks had the good sense, after four years, to get rid of The Dangerous Doctor Donald. How long will it take the Poms to wake up to Bug Ridden Boris and do likewise? The EU should say good riddance to a Britain and its real life clown!

Aiden, it may have been poetic license, or it may be the passage of time.
Doesn't matter, it was a very funny episode. I believe Netflix have
all the Yes Minister Episodes available.
It might be a good idea if Paul could watch a few it might put things
into perspective regarding politics.
Margaret Thatcher said she was a regular fan of it as it enabled her
to anticipate her own Sir Humphrey.

You would think Paul would like Boris, seeing that he is as rat bag crazy greenie as Paul himself is.

Bet he gave away too much to the ratbag green/socialist EU in getting the agreement.
