Hi Jack,

Getting your car pinched is quite an adventure. I lent my dear old '68 Kingswood to a relation back in 1984, some old people stole it from out the front of his place, drove it all over town, and left it under the Morphett Street Bridge here in Adelaide; Friday morning on major bus route, pinch point.

Police rang at 6.05 am to remove it, I said yes and went back to sleep; police rang again at 7.05, so I drove ten miles across town to get my relation and keys; we couldn't get it started, out of petrol. Got petrol but it still wouldn't turn over; the old people had removed the rotor button; great fun for them.

Drove around to Holden's and got a new old rotor button. Still didn't go: clutch burnt out. Tow-rope ? Nope. Went back to his mum's and got a tow-rope, went back and towed it up North Terrace/West Terrace against peak-hour traffic, around to his mum's place. 10.30 am.

Left it there with intention to fix. Local council towed it away and impounded it. Paid to get it out of the pound; flat tire; thieves had taken the spare. Bought new tire, etc. Fixed car properly.

Never saw it again.

Joe

Hi diver dan

All of your mentioned points were complied with. Car was registered to me, receipt of sale shown when pulled over, wasnt charged with a type 1 or 2 offence, in fact i was never charged with any offence at all.
Was told by qps that as my vehicle had been reported stolen that they had to tow it to a holding yard. Gave me a field property receipt. And took my car they did. Wasnt told when i could pick it up. Tried to call the officer that impounded ot or even someone at the station but i had police hanging up on me and telling me they were going to politely hang up on me because they couldnt help me.
Was told as my car wasnt currently impounded i could not submit an early release of impoundement notice. 9 months later they paid the impoundment fee and let me get me my car. They cost me $7000 in a hire car because they took my car without legal justofication. And by the way, the stolen property notofocation on the vehicle was expired by qld police the same day as it was reported. And that was after i purchased and registered in my name! The only people who can amend a stolen property notice with queensland transport is queensland police! Ppsr history of the vehicle also states its never been stolen!

ttbn,

Lawyers are low-life scumbags. Dishonest and untrustworthy.

How does that joke go:

Q: What's the difference between a lawyer and a leech?

A: One's a blood sucking parasite; the other's a leech.

Mr. Opinion,

Thanks for describing my younger daughter as a low life scumbag.

Lawyers are the only people capable of giving legal advice, no matter what you think of them. This Jack whatever sounds like an idiot. Who but an idiot would ask OLO posters for legal advice! And, of course, idiots responded by saying nothing helpful, or boring everyone with their own experiences caused by their own maladjusted lives.

ttbn,

Lawyers know what people think of them.

But they don't care because they are in it for the money and are laughing all the way to the bank.

ttbn,

Also one of my favourite oxymorons is an 'honest lawyer'.

The other two are a 'poor doctor' and a 'civil engineer'.
