Trust your son remains well Paul. Personally I have a son at a major hospital emergency ward. Does make me a little nervous.

It seems heavy handed to move on people getting some sunshine when they are keeping a fair distance from others. It was pathetically weak to allow school kids and spoilt brats to close down cities while they threw their silly little gw tantrums a few weeks back.

Hi runner, we just can't justify one thing by pointing to another thing. It puts us on a slippery slope of justifying all sorts of behaviour based on unrelated behaviour.

Julian Burnside, human rights advocate had this to say; “on the surface, these measures interfere appallingly with human rights – but for good reason”. “My instinct is that it’s a pretty serious health crisis,” he said. “[Directions] like this are probably justifiable in order to minimise the extraordinary acceleration of infection and in some cases death.” Burnside said the measures were designed to “address a specific problem, and once the public health crisis has passed the measures ought to be repealed”. “The government has to be guided by genuine, impartial medical advice."
