Gender sanity in Queensland.

The Queensland Government has introduced new physical tests for would-be firefighting recruits, resulting in only 2 of 56 recent successful candidates being women.

Will that make the female Premier a misogynist?

Not before time has Queensland decide to rectify the stupid PC feminist nonsense that put lives at risk. Women who can pass the same test as men will still be welcome.

Next? How about those built-for-ballet five foot nothing female police officers.

I suppose we are supposed to believe that just because it's said. No proof follows, just a bald statements attached to the buzz word "diversity". I suppose it's as OK for women to be involved in back room jobs as it is for men. But when it comes to front line stuff like police and fire and military it is plainly ridiculous.

ttbn, of the other 54 who were not women, how many of you 'Crusty Old Farts' were successful? The 2 women must have been rather healthy, considering a lot of good men try, and a lot of good men fail when it comes to joining the 'Fireies'.

Oh haven't the lefties been preaching that gender is a social construct! Oh well hypocrisy on hypocrisy. Surely if you are being pulled out of a fire you would want someone strong enough to do so. Then 'gender' equality wins in most cases over your life.

Of course we need to know that firefighters, police and soldiers are physically capable of defending us - and themselves. The Queensland government has belatedly recognised this, and has changed the requirements. In the last intake, two women proved that they could handle the requirements, and they will be able to do the job properly. The political bigotry of some people here blinds them to the realities of life - one being the obvious differences between men and women. There are women physically capable of emulating men, but they are a very small minority. One of my daughters is among them, still hefty and strong in her 50's

I wouldn't like to write women off with a position that says they belong in either a kitchen or a laundry.
It's a bit harsh, and mostly unfair as they are capable of doing more and accomplishing things in their own right as well as taking on many positions where gender doesn't really matter.

But I won't promote the idea that 'Women can do anything', No.

I prefer a more realistic approach, and truthfully we can never have real equality, because not everyone can do what others can do.
It's probably more realistic to say most people aren't capable of doing things that others can do.

A 60kg woman can't rescue a 100kg man from a burning building
A 60kg bloke probably won't do it any better.

A 60kg female cop might be more trigger happy in a confrontation than a more physically able cop who's able to restrain someone without shooting them, and this is important when dealing with the mentally ill.

Not everybody is physically able to do work others can do, and likewise not everybody is intelligent enough to do the work others do.

Some people want to work 9-5 and go home.
Others run a business, and for them work never stops.

Diversity quotas are stupid.
I'm happy for anyone to apply, but the positions should be filled on a basis of merit.
There's reasons why we did it that way in the past, it was a system that produced the best results.

The UTS also thinks that females are not up to the standards of males; females will be able to enter STEM courses with 10 fewer admission points than males. So, it's no just physical, it's intellectual as well. Capable females should be insulted.

AC Graham should give us smiles to help us signal that we are tongue in cheek.

My lady could handle a 40 Ft yacht in a howling gale, [including one cyclone], while I was busy with reefing or putting extra lashes on stuff.

She could ride a 16.2 hands eventer at a flat gallop over big jumps in cross country events, & could manage the accounts department of a fairly large & complex operation.

Anyone like you thinking that it’s OK to shoot a person just because you can’t handle him, without facing serious ramifications, up to and including, a murder charge, is pretty naive and unworldly. Police in this country still can’t going around shooting people to subdue them and get away without disciplinary action, including criminal charges and the the sack.

We “feeble old fools” aren’t looking for physical demanding work, and a good many of us could not be handled by anyone but extreme Amazon women; certainly not by a girl like you. Your “living wage” crap puts you in the luvvy Left brigade.

Firefighters are very well paid and we have a dedicated and efficient service. If a crew has to carry someone that is OK until the carry ons are in the majority. Also this is the start as we all know the next thing is a woman has to be placed in charge. Great if you are female but not as great if you are male, unfair is what it is.
Equality does not mean half of all firefighters or police have to be women it is equality of opportunity that is the goal not the outcome!

one day someone might wake up to the great inequality in the school teaching profession. Our boys have very few male role models and the grades under the current regime continue to slide. And the NSW Governments answer. Up the quotas of females in management to 60%. What chance to our poor kids have?

And jbowyer, many firefighters are volunteers and get paid s.f.a. whilst some of you want to pay your filthy wig parasites $500+ per hour and even worse some blood sucking med specialist $1000 per hour, none of whom put their lives on the line for others.

For me, if someone is prepared to die in the line of duty for others then they deserve to be appropriately rewarded.
