Ah! Belly, our grandson just left, said he's going to put the pots out on Sunday night in the bay, hopefully a feed of muddies for Xmas, he did well last year with them. The boys been promising me a big muddy all year, time to deliver. Just back from my island hop, and had the best seafood ever in NZ, with big fat oysters, crayfish, etc, plenty of everything for everyone. The wife and I scored 2 big lobsters, they were whoppers, thanks to a favourite (he is now) cuzzy bro, during the 'Kai Hakari' (big Maori feast), no room for the hangi.

The boy and dad, have 3 crab pots, best time is late afternoon low tide, with a full Moon that night, check them with the next morning low, so they tell me. Moreton Bay is very shallow so they have to put the pots well out. Chicken drum sticks for bait, they say are the best, I believe their top haul was 9 males. With a ban on taking females, they get a lot of them to throw back. Not had any pots stolen, but they suspect crabs have been taken out a few times.

p/s Have mum and dads Xmas present, a neat second hand kayak hidden in our garage for the boy, he'll love it, going out on the bay with his dad who is a keen kayka'er himself, it will make it easier to put the pots out as well. Dads been paddling since his childhood days back in the Cook Islands.

Sad news Belly, with two volunteer firefighters killed in NSW in a truck accident while fighting the fires. I hope the Premier will now agree to call off the New Year fireworks celebrations in Sydney as they are totally inappropriate at this time. Put the money to better use. How do you feel on that score? Not sure if Berejiklian has responded to the call yet, last I hear was the money the crap generates is more important!
