We are currently being bombarded with 'free press' messages on TV.

One law for them, and another law for everyone else, is what the MSN wants. They want freedom to tell you what THEY want you to know, not what YOU want to know or what you are entitled to know.

They even want to be exempted from certain national security laws!

The MSN is also trying to set up a protection racket against bloggers and informal methods of communicating information.

And, be particularly suspicious of the Green's clamour for freedom of speech, because it was the Greens who went to the last federal election with a policy to censor commentators whose opinions they disagreed with.

Also remember that, in 2014, some of the same bigmouths of MSN now campaigning for press 'freedom' were among those who rubbished attempts to reform Section 18c to regain freedom of speech for everyone.

"it was the Greens who went to the last federal election with a policy to censor commentators whose opinions they disagreed with."

Care to substantiate that ridiculous claim ttbn, making it up on the run I see. The ones who want to censor are the lunatic fringe that ratbag element, people associated with the likes of Corny Banana the now defunct Australian Conservatives! Were you not a member?

Paul

It was all said by SHY. For a rabid Green, you know very little about the party's policies. Anyway, if I said something was white, you would say it was black. I'm not going to waste any energy substantiating anything for you.

Even if something was said by one politician, how is that party policy? Of course there are exceptions, anything extremist said by Corny Banana was taken by you as party policy. As for my knowledge of Greens policy, it would not be difficult to out rank yours, which is ZERO, YOU KNOW NOTHING! How many meetings, state conferences of the Greens, where policy is formulated and voted on, have you ever attended? ZERO, YOU KNOW NOTHING!

Dear Ttbn,

«We are currently being bombarded with 'free press' messages on TV.»

Please don't use "We": I am not bombarded with any of that because I don't have a TV.

You say that "They want freedom to tell you what THEY want you to know": can you elaborate how they propose to obtain this freedom? Are they asking to forcibly enter my home and shout this in my ear?

They used to have a big button on television sets labelled "OFF"! perhaps they don't have them any more? in that case, don't forget to wear rubber gloves when cutting the power cord with pliers.

"They want freedom to tell you what THEY want you to know, not what YOU want to know" ttbn

If they are telling YOU only what THEY want you to know, and since YOU don't know what YOU want to know, as YOU are not being told what YOU want to know by THEY.How do YOU know THEY are not telling YOU what YOU want to know.

Unfortunately some of the extreme right, the THEY people, want to close down the ABC, so THEY can tell YOU only what THEY want YOU to know. Isn't that RIGHT ttbn?

Paul,

Shouting now, I see. I know all about the Greens from the their shamelessly stupid public comments, and those of one of their supporters. What you carry on like behind the scenes must really be out of this world!

Try to get over Cory Bernadi; I have.

Yuyutsu,

I doubt that there are many people like you around, but your comments are always interesting.

Marxist national broadcasters, Fairfax, Guardian etc simply search out snippets of news that fits their warped narrative. Man made gw, male privilege, celebrating perversion, promoting all diversity except Christianity, preaching man hating feminist doctrines and lies, worship of Indigenous culture, making up lies about Trump. Thank God for other sources that allows a little integrity and truth from journalist. These are the one's the swamp want banned and silenced.

runner,

Few 'other sources' unfortunately. Sky News. The Australian, although that's not what it used to be.

The public might be dealing with the Leftists media in its own way, though. ABC News used to be the standard, but ratings agency OzTam, in mid-October found that ABC 7.00 pm News didn’t even figure in the top ten programmes. An audience of 660,000 compared to Seven News’s 1.053 million.

Morrison might be right about the "quiet Australians".

It is important to protect press freedom.
However, we need to address rule of law
concerns, have legal clarity, consistency and
proportionality. It is time for a Media Freedom
Act that will clearly spell things out for all
concerned.

It was the June raids on the home of News Corp
journalist Annika Smethhurst, and the ABC's Sydney
headquarters, that revealed the fragile state of
press freedom in this country.

People should be wary of the MSM taking the high moral ground.

I recall back in year 2000, There was a lot of gang rapes by muslims of Aussie girls in the Bankstown area of Sydney. The police were alarmed and decided to warn the public and Issued a press release informing females to be extra carefull.

Well the MSM colluded and decided the publicity could be damaging to the upcoming Olympics in Sydney and determined not to publish the warning.

So much for the moral obligation to the public.

"So much for the moral obligation to the public."

Obligations to shareholders and big business (advertising) come first, second and third. Truth doesn't get a look in.

The only party that has consistently fought for press freedom is the liberal party. When Juliar tried to create a government censorship board for newspapers Labor lost all credibility.
