'Get woke, go broke' is the heading of Quadrant editor Roger Franklin's piece on the Gillette company's recent foray into Left politics, virtue-signalling and rubbishing men, its main customers. Telling their customers recently in advertisements that they are "rotten, sexist and generally appalling specimens" has not gone down well.

Gillette has suffered and $8 million write down. Men are embracing alternative products.

A welcome piece of natural justice.

ttbn,

Sorry to have to correct you, but the write down was $8bn not $8m.

A lesson for all corporate virtue signallers.

SM,

Don't apologise; I can take correcting. The true amount is a much more appropriate punishment for Gillette's political correctness and interference in social matters.

Fox News commentator, Tucker Carlson, has observed that the biggest threat to personal freedom is now not the State, but the Corporation. Outsized commercials enterprises are playing "quasi governmental" roles in our lives.

Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg says his organisation is more like a government than a traditional company … "We have this large community of people, and more than other technology companies we’re really setting policies.”

But, nobody is interested in how they are being manipulated and told what to and what to think. Nobody gives a feck.

Corporations enforce oppressive new rules and protocols for employees, contractors and recipients of sponsorships. They insult their customers; and their customers are lying down and talking it, handing over money for often unnecessary goods and services.

One of the latest lurks in advertising is about all the different 'families' who should be interested in handing their money over to the company being advertised, with 'married' homosexuals, lesbians and kids, normal families, all mixed up together.
