Can we trust those who run our sports? given the gambling on most sports do we need to be concerned?
Yes in my view we do , the great drug scandals in the last few years are just the tip of the iceberg.
Here in this country you only have to look at some football codes to see the worst standards of refereeing in the games history or is it something else?
The very idea that coaches and officials who complain are fined thousands of dollars asks the question what are they hiding?
My concerns is the very fabric of some sports are at risk and like an increasing number I doubt we can trust sporting results to always be the honest outcome they should be.

I feel the whole Rugby League culture is ruptured and corrupted. I think this can be traced back to the club and poker machine profits that are directed to Rugby League. Remember the Canterbury Bulldogs and the Eddie Obead connections for the huge Leagues club at Liverpool. There is too much money thrown around for the welfare of the game.
Boxing has historically been the most corrupt sport and in the US the mob became and probably still is involved in fight promotion and fixing. The wealth generated by prize money and sponsorship is obscene and can only corrupt anyone involved.

Sport honest? You would have to be joking of course?
It is riddled with corruption, dishonesty and drug taking. I know someone who, until recently, had a job as a "sports analyst" - read the guy who sets the betting odds. He had some interesting things to say...one was never bother to gamble on sporting outcomes.
While some modern "wars" may be played out on the playing fields until we cease treating those who play sport at higher levels as some sort of gods and heroes who "deserve" to be paid massive amounts then sport will be corrupt and fewer people will ever have an opportunity to play it.

A sport tragic my sport, well the most important of many has been the NRL.
One day, I have zero doubt, we will see my sport shamed, the truth will surface it always has always will.
But I have sat at a table a great many tables at a great many fund raisers for charity, and heard a Jockey on the stage say we can now earn more for a loss than a win.
Watch your sport this weekend ask can the linesmen get it so wrong so often?
Can the bloke up in the review camera position truly not put his finger on the switch that would put him instantly in touch with the ref?
Can your ears be telling you the truth? is it true the bumbling idiot with the whistle , the under skilled fool be allowed to talk to players like that.
Then watch as a star? player sets himself up to run onto the ball, in fact is the only player who can take the ball.
And just as he runs into the exact spot to take the ball he crosses his arms! the ball off course falls into the hands of the other team who score!
TOO MUCH MONEY not enough honesty no loyalty to the fans yes sport is in trouble in Australia.

I had a uncle ,who was a well renowned jockey in the late 30's and early 40's,who made more money either hooking the horse or putting it or some other horse over the fence.while there is gambling sport will never be honest,

Why then do we fall for it? yes it is more often in no way honest racing? gee!
A great many years ago a jockey jumped of a horse he could not pull up as it raced to the lead, he was a relation of mine and one of tens who did that.
Have you seen a favorite left at the post then run home to finish just out of the placings?
Forget how unlucky the horse was! just think how lucky the jockey was we fell for it.
This weekend in the NRL the lines men will be using invisible blind folds, the ref will give one side penalty's at vital times and after it no longer matters the other team will get catch up penalty's.
