Suggestions towards solving the serious bias in the governance of the Sydney opera house, currently on full display.

1. Stand down the entire opera house Trust at the next NSW State elections, and hand over to the public, the right to elect its own representatives.

2. Defund the arts entirely.

3. Privatise the opera house. (And the ABC, which is a family part of the arts).

Hi Dan/Kim,

Attacking the arts, your belief that the arts is populated by openly gay people, is a manifestation of your "machoism", it is understandable, given your present dilemma regarding your own sexuality.
As I said before there is help available, and you should avail yourself of it.

Dear diver dan,

You accuse me saying "You do have difficulty following a straightforward truthful line." and then you deliver your last post.

So in one breath you want the Opera house to be handed over to the public to elect the officials and in the next you want to privatise it.

Do you understand why that might seem a bit schizophrenic to the casual reader?

Would you care to try again or are your bile ducts being squeezed over all and sundry because you are feeling a touch ornery today?

The recent events in Sydney concerning the Opera House
have been both disheartening and in a smaller way
re-assuring.

Disheartening - when Alan Jones used his radio program
to bully and threaten the CEO of the Opera House, Louise
Herron. And even more disheartening was the NSW Liberal
Premier's response.

What was re-assuring was that by Tuesday more than a
quarter of a million people had signed a petition
against the plan. People had had enough of the bullies -
and were sick of the financial interests of industry
trumping people's decisions to hold onto their public
places and spaces.

Of course the influence of political donations particularly
from the racing and gaming industries will always have
unprecedented access to power and will win out - that's
clear - but at least there was a reaction from people.
We can only hope that next time - perhaps the people will
win.

Get over it folks: the opera house WAS used as a 'billboard' and probably will be used as such many times in the future. End of story.
