Lasting fall out, it become clearer every day there is and will be lasting fall out.
Republicans are again united.
Any chance, and it was only a slim one, Democrats could win the senate is gone.
They still have a chance in the congress
worth watching in this last four weeks before the vote

I'm puzzled about Kavanaugh: in my limited experience, a bloke who regularly hits the grog and gropes women can usually be expected to be doing that for much of his life: he won't stop at eighteen. So where are the witnesses to Kavanaugh's behaviour on this purported occasion, and on other - countless - occasions 'afterwards' ?

As well, the women's movement did itself no favours by pushing forward one of the women who had previously, on five or six occasions, taken blokes to court, and lost. That sounds like vexatious litigation. Perhaps not a credible witness, unless you simply say, "I believe. Don't worry about evidence, just feel the passion."

Know your enemy, but know your 'friends' better. I wish the women's movement well, but only if it adheres to principle, and abandons a (usually right-wing) notion of 'whatever it takes'. A lie, or misrepresentation of the truth, or mistruth, can destroy or at least corrupt an otherwise genuinely progressive movement.

I find that the left whingers on this site have now conceded that there is not a scrap of solid evidence that Kavanaugh has committed anything wrong. Desperately trying not to look like complete idiots, they have now come back with another baseless accusation that Kavanaugh has lied to the senate which if proved would disqualify him.
Firstly, BK as a senior judge is unlikely to be that stupid, and secondly a review of the "lies" by Ben Shapiro (a conservative Harvard trained lawyer) has point by point showed them to be simple ignorance on the side of the accusers.

The proof of the pudding is whether the idiots put their money where their mouth is and try to charge Kavanaugh.

The following commentary shows the hypocrisy of those that claimed that Thompson should be considered innocent in spite of tons of evidence:

"At turns out that progressives are doing far more to trash democratic principles than Trump. In the end, the failed attempt to keep Kavanaugh off the US Supreme Court bench was a sensational trial, not about allegations of sexual abuse or judicial character but of the Left’s commitment to democratic principles.
Progressives have been found guilty on all counts: trashing the presumption of innocence, disregarding the rule of law and turning their backs on due process.

Claims against the conservative judge never saw the inside of a courtroom for a reason. His accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, could not recall important details of that night when, she claimed, the judge attempted to undress her as a teenager. But progressives tried and convicted him on the basis of one vague testimony, minus a single corroborating witnesses. Democrats cast aside the presumption of innocence as a disposable nuisance.

Dear Shadow Minister,

Wait a second. This from a bloke who has repeatedly raise the issue of Bill Shorten being accused of rape. You refuse to drop it even when two separate police investigations found there was no case to answer.

Does that mean you will now undertake to never raise the matter again or does the hypocrisy of the right know no bounds as always?

Foxy here at least some will always find it easy to blame the woman, some comments are foul.
In the end it comes down to numbers, women if they vote, out number men, by just a bit.
It will be interesting if they do, vote that is, to see how Trump/Tramp supporters get them back on side
Or if they ever can.
