AI and computer software is now available to enable a video to be made of anyone (if you have enough face photos) doing and saying anything.

It is good at the moment as you will see by the videos on the article but give it a few years and the results will be astoundingly better.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-09-28/fake-news-how-hard-is-it-to-make-a-deepfake-video/10313906

From the article.
To see what was possible we turned to a program called Deepfakes, machine learning software that made its way into the public domain via the dark corners of the internet, where it was unsurprisingly being used to make fake celebrity porn.

Compared to what’s available to researchers, it’s pretty limited — it can’t recreate a whole scene, but what it can do is recreate a person’s face, and put that onto another person.

To use the program you don’t really need to know how to code — all you need is a relatively fast computer. It does all the work, though you need to give it the right ingredients. Here’s how it works.

Down the bottom there is an example a video where they placed a re-creation of Malcolm Turnbull’s current face onto a man who was standing on the steps of Parliament House in 1975 after The Dismissal of Gough Whitlam’s government.

Again, it’s far from perfect (Malcolm Turnbull was 21 at the time for starters) — but it provides a sense of what’s possible. Imagine putting a politician’s face into a compromising scene, with a bit of assistance from some video editing software we could go a long way to making it more believable.

There are programs that can do the sound, voice there are not demonstrated.

I can put my raise my hand to having watched some Deepfake porn.... you can still tell it's fake. The faces are close, but they're not quite right.

As long as you've got an actual human being and not another computer doing the spotting, the technology has some way to go.

All that's required is the face of the person targetted to be maligned & a few very willing & just as evil performers & the scene is literally in the bag.

But also that is what is available, what is not available could also be far more advanced.

For the voice the companies say they have got it but not released it, any bet they have but to selected organizations.

Taken from the article.
And what about sound?

By now you’ve probably noticed that none of our videos have any sound. While similar research and technology is happening that can create a digital version of a person’s voice in much the same way, there currently aren’t any publicly available tools offer the same ability to use any audio clip to learn a person’s voice.

A company called Lyrebird AI uses machine learning to offer a way to create your own digital voice, but has made the decision not to release a version that would allow you to copy anyone’s voice.

It released audio of Barack Obama and Donald Trump to show what is possible, but in a statement explained why it is keeping this capability back.

“Imagine that we had decided not to release this technology at all. Others would develop it and who knows if their intentions would be as sincere as ours: they could, for example, only sell the technology to a specific company or an ill-intentioned organisation. By contrast, we are making the technology available to anyone and we are introducing it incrementally so that society can adapt to it, leverage its positive aspects for good, while preventing potentially negative applications.”

And these concerns are not irrational — in 2016 Adobe previewed a program called VoCo, which offered this capability, but never released it.

It may be cheaper and more convincing to use a movie double , look-alike . Real audio can be cut into phrases and customised for the general theme intended with silent mouthing by the actor. Images can be tested for artificial pasting and the "oddity" is probably hard to overcome. But at least everyone knows it's possible , both doubles and photo-shop.

The problem with a double doing it are that more people know a double does exist so there is doubt from the start that it is the real person and the more people that know the greater the risk someone will talk.

But if someone can sit in a room and do it all them self, perfect.

There's vid of Melania Trump which they say is her double. I've long believed that Donald is actually his double , like Winston Churchill's "fight on the beaches" radio speech. The Putin-Trump talks were a front , they were really playing golf and boasting about bank accounts.

Remember it was claimed Saddam Hussein had a double, or a triple, or was it a quadruple, never mind. Did they bump off the real Saddam, or was it one of his many doubles. Like Elvis it is believed by me that Saddam is still alive and well and working at the Burger King store in Dapto New South Wales. Speaking of Elvis, glad someone mentioned Elvis, can't have a discussion about doubles with mentioning Elvis. Elvis has a reported 86,000 doubles, well some are not very doubly, but doubles they are never the less! Some are enough to drive you to Heartbreak Hotel, that's another story!
In my own case, I have a double, his name is Tom Cruise, I employ Tom because it saves on make up. Although many of the visually impaired will say I am better looking than Tom. I can't deny that.
NNN don't tell me there could be another Donald in the world, there's not enough room for one, let alone two!

Particularly if the 2 Donalds compete for the ratings...
However , news should not be created from within. Re-enactment is useful for known facts ( from court case , history etc) but ABC re-enacted parliament bullying when it was unproven. The image becomes memory of a real event which may never have happened. Others may do the same thing to prove things using that ABC tradition , then it becomes a video game. It may have to be direct tweeting.

Hi NNN,

Is that like Filipino's who name their eldest son Jesus (just in case, second coming and all that) then nail him to a cross every Easter, in a macabre reenactment of an event that supposedly took place 2000 years ago? It can be a bit of a downer, particularly if you're Filipino and named Jesus around Easter time. But there is an up side, it keeps Bunnings timber and nail departments in business.

But NNN, what if you go for the budget fake passport, and its got the name Jesus on it, and its Easter. Instead of the Easter Bunny turning up its the guys with the cross and nails! How do you get yourself out of that one?
I like the scene in the 'Life of Brian';

Nisus Wettus: Crucifixion?
Mr. Cheeky: Ah, no. Freedom.
Nisus Wettus: What?
Mr. Cheeky: Eh, freedom for me. They said I hadn't done anything, so I can go free and live on an island somewhere.
Nisus Wettus: Oh, oh that´s jolly good well. Off you go then.
Mr. Cheeky: No, I'm only pulling your leg, it's crucifixion really!
Nisus Wettus: Oh, I see, very good. Well...
Mr. Cheeky: Yes I know, out the door, one cross each, line on the left.

Dear Mr Bunnings,

I would like to nail my mother~in~law to a cross. She is a rather large woman, with a big mouth, about 140kg. She will be hanging in the backyard for several days over Easter, a family tradition. What can you suggest? Should I apply a coat of rust proof paint in case of wet weather? Last year at Xmas, we hung granddad from the cloths line, another family tradition. Unfortunately it rained on Boxing day, and he rusted.

You'll like this one.

I went to K-mart, and asked the kid on the door, where do you keep your door mats?

She replied; "If we have them, they should be in Kitchen."

and I said; "And if you don't have them, where will they be?"

and she relied; "I'm not sure, you can ask at the service desk they should know."

So she couldn't see that the front door mat wasn't there , right in front of her? It must have been fake then. Here's a shocking exposure of fake video in a question to Quora :
"To generate a fake unconfirmed Bitcoin transactions I have seen tons of videos on YouTube but all are scam. Where can I get any working ones?"
