The right of reality section of this government wants to serve Murdock, and harnessing the ABC is part of that.
However that faction, while in control of this government can not rely even on its own voters if it intends to kill the ABC

data - 83% of
Australians say they value and trust the ABC.

I'll try to get more stats. However it does seem that
the ABC is valued by most people in this country.

No-one wants to kill the ABC. Wherever did you get that from ? What this Govt wants & quite rightly & morally so is for the ABC to be independent, that's all.
