Hi Butch,
I suspect that newspapers have been flogging the sensational, at the expense of the truth, for a long time. Recently, a map of supposed massacre sites (i.e. of Aboriginal people by mass-murdering whites), has been published and I suspect tthat many of its information sources were newspapers, as well as creative sundowners and bar-flies. The map has interactive dots marking supposed sites, and when I checked one of them in far NE SA, up on the Warburton, I found that two of the dots were of the same place, with a claim that a hundred Aboriginal people had been killed there in 1899. By 1899, that entire area would have been under pastoral leases, replete with many Aboriginal ration depots, for around thirty years: pastoral leases had been taken out all along the Warburton River and Coopers Creek much earlier than 1899. The biggest sheep station in the world at the time, Cordillo Downs, is a couple of hundred km to the east, and two Lutheran missions had been operating just south of the supposed site for thirty three years, so massacre seems hardly likely given the vigilance and dedication of the missionaries. An investigation would clear it up. Fortunately, the map's author is also claiming that the massacres are all 'verifiable': I presume by this she means that archaeologists and forensic scientists could go to any one of the sites and find evidence of a massacre, to 'verify' that one had occurred. I look forward to that ever happening. The map claims some hundreds of massacre sites: as far as I can tell, not half a dozen have ever been examined anywhere in Australia. Perhaps before (presumably) hundreds of people are accused of being mass-murderers, investigations should be carried out ? As for newspapers, as John Williamson sang to the Cootamundra Wattle, 'Good news never made a paper sell'. There has been such a phenomenon as 'fake news' for a very long time. Many careers have been built on it, yes, including the Donald's. Joe Posted by Loudmouth, Thursday, 9 August 2018 1:04:32 PM

News has for a long time been a form of entertainment, more often slanted than not, sometimes it truly is fake news, I long for politicians on both sides to ask interviewers this question *are you asking me my opinion or giving us yours?* fake news was about in this country, great Britain and America from the beginning of the last century as newspaper barrons used their property to influence us all.

Infowars has been shut down on YouTube and Facebook.
I'll tell you all about the liberal left. They are they absolute effing scum who will lie to manipulate the minds of the people, And when that doesn't work, They try to cheat to win; Manipulating elections, silencing opposition. Spreading mistruths and trying to cause Posted by Armchair Critic, Thursday, 9 August 2018 11:28:19 PM

Few too many last night Armchair Critic? if you think as you wrote just maybe your use of the word Liberal is a description of this new right not true caring center left? Americans, quite madly, spit that word out as an insult, here it represents our right? if, just for a second, we say no opposition to tea party Trump, existed our world would be a dark place

Ok, can anyone point out any recent democratic policies lately in Australia ?

thankfully many have woken up to fake news like the abc put out constantly. The election of Trump offers a great deal of hope that many are not as dumb as the media who feed them lies.

'not much to be said about that runner, we could however ask how did true red necks get so close to Russia's man in the white house?'
well Belly I suspect the antifa terrorist and thugs really don't want to accept the will of the people. They along with CNN, New York times and a multiple of other news outlets are facist. Tell me what election have Russia, CHina and others not want to have influenced? I would be much more concerned about the marxist news and academia swamp who have directly influenced stinking thinking among the young then a few desperate conspiracies by dummy spitters who still can't accept democracy. Notice Trumps ratings continue to rise among African Americans. Posted by runner, Friday, 10 August 2018 3:30:16 PM

Hi Philip S
Yes, I have to admit that for a moment I definately cracked. The reason: I went over to Infowars YouTube channel and saw the channels been removed in supposed violation of YouTubes community guidelines. My frustration wasn't so much about being inconvenienced but the attack on free speech. That the left can't stand to even have a fair playing field, that they must cheat and use every dirty underhanded tactic to win at any cost. The attack upon the right and viewpoints that don't support established agendas and narratives have been going on for a number of years; it started with small things like the selective use of comment sections; moved to increased disinformation and fake news by the corporate media and when they they still couldn't control the narrative they started moving to demonitising ad revenue and shadow -banning, and now they've just moved to all out censorship. These people are terrorists and play by the mentality of - The Ends Justify The Means - Hey Belly, As far as 'liberal' goes I generally support J S Mills Harm Principle in that people should be able to do whatever they like so like as it doesnt have a negative impact on others. Todays liberal left, going by the rhetoric most of them only agree with democracy when it suits them and many probably want socialism anyway and are so gullible that they buy into the argument that certain speech should be banned lest it might offend. All this leftist bs, just costs the country money and a slow noose of our dwindling sovereignty and a wealth transfer and fire sale on public assets built up by generations of hard working Aussies - deliberately run into the ground by greedy fools and socialist collaborators; social programs driving the nation more into debt etc. It's all just an entire sellout, and democracy isn't democracy when one side wants to tear everything down or steal it and bring about something altogether new. - The shutdown of Infowars YouTube channel got under my skin but I should've expected it. I think its about time that all those fearmongering about Russia and who want a war should suit up in your jump-suit and we'll arm you up and drop you into Moscow. Communist headquarters are in New York, Belly. Btw here's the link to the previous comment - it's that slimebag Soros again. http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2018/08/jared-holt-the-fascist-who-got-alex-jones-banned-from-internet-works-for-soros-website/ Theres plenty of things that people say on this website I dont agree with but I support everyones right to say it; And I also support others right to criticise it, that's how it works. Armchair Critic we all have done that it is ok we however are different people with different views, mine get me in to trouble even on my side of politics, this thread has truth as its basic, both sides deceive us both use us, but in my view if one side is let run free, without opposition,we are in very real trouble, it remains my view Trump and his supporters, have highlighted America, if it ever was, is no country to mimic

Armchair Critic- As they say in Star Wars "the more they tighten their grip the more power will slip though their fingers". The fact that they feel the need to sensor content means that "the Soc/ Globalists are getting desperate". I think everyone who sees what is happening are as angry as you are- it's important to channel the anger

Thanks for the link Philip S,
It's been some time since I've watched or listened to the Corbett Report, I've just finished listening to the episode. He always did have a sensible commentary and give food for thought. Ultimately my gripe against censorship is also an endorsement of this website and its respect for all opinions. I just want a fair playing field, one that sees the best ideas and policies on merit given consideration, instead of this upside down world of manipulation, deceit, social engineering and globalist agendas. I see lies and mistruths by the corporate media on a daily basis, it's par for the course but I don't see anyone actively trying to shut them down. I found some other things to watch anyway, Stefan Molyneux has some thought provoking things to say lately. http://youtu.be/UzL4za_8u4o http://youtu.be/M_7xifW4TF4 Banning Alex Jones when it's become the #1 internet radio program will only wake more people up anyway. I don't often paste links but this one has made me furious and shows just how manipulative the media can be.
Scrolling down there is a picture of kangaroos happily grazing on green pastures, joey in pouch, when in fact the very story they are covering in one of total devastation and despair as livestock and wild animals compete for what little food is actually available.
Shame on you as this is just another case of 'what ever it takes' to sell papers.
